What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Retainer (Retainer-Based Remote Professional), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Retainer Remote professional, you need specialized expertise in your field, a proven track record, and relevant education or certification depending on your industry. Familiarity with remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, project management systems, and secure file-sharing platforms is typically required. Exceptional self-motivation, time management, and communication skills are essential for building trust and maintaining clear client relationships remotely. These skills ensure that deliverables meet client expectations, foster long-term partnerships, and enable success in a flexible, independent work environment.

How does communication typically work for remote employees on a retainer basis?

Remote employees working on a retainer basis usually rely on consistent digital communication tools such as email, project management software, and video conferencing to stay connected with their clients or teams. Regular check-ins, status updates, and clear expectations around availability are key to ensuring smooth collaboration. Since tasks may be project-based or ongoing, establishing a structured workflow and clear deliverables helps both parties stay aligned, even without in-person meetings.

What is a Retainer Remote job?

A Retainer Remote job is a type of employment arrangement where a professional works remotely for a client or company on a retainer basis. This means the worker is paid a fixed fee regularly (such as monthly) to be available for a set amount of work or hours, rather than being compensated per project or by the hour. The remote aspect allows the worker to perform their duties from any location, providing flexibility for both the employee and employer. Such positions are common in consulting, legal, marketing, and creative fields where ongoing support is needed. Retainer remote jobs offer stability for workers and predictable costs for clients.

Empire Property Management is a Lehigh Valley-based property management company in Easton, PA. We manage 1,000+ residential units across the region, supporting owners and residents with responsive operations, compliance, and customer service.

Role Summary
We're seeking an experienced Landlord-Tenant Paralegal to handle court-related work for non-payment cases and related filings, primarily in Pennsylvania Magisterial District Courts (MDJ). You'll keep our docket moving-from notice to judgment to possession-attending MDJ hearings as our authorized company representative/agent and maintaining rock-solid paperwork and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, file, and track landlord-tenant complaints, notices, affidavits, and post-judgment documents (writs, possession).
  • Coordinate service of process; maintain a precise MDJ hearing calendar and appearance schedule.
  • Appear in MDJ as Empire's authorized representative/agent; present facts, exhibits, and requested relief.
  • Monitor statutory timelines (judgment, writ, possession, lockout) and escalate matters promptly.
  • Keep forms, templates, and workflows aligned with PA rules and local practices; update for rule changes.
  • Communicate with property managers and outside counsel (as needed for appeals).

Engagement & Compensation

  • Retainer arrangement (monthly baseline covering filings and appearances)
  • On-site court appearances required; prep/admin is remote
  • Typical schedule aligns with MDJ calendars; occasional short-notice appearances may occur.

Compliance Note
This role appears at MDJ as Empire's employee/authorized agent. Appeals to the Court of Common Pleas or matters requiring legal representation are coordinated with a licensed attorney.

 Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years focused on landlord-tenant or collections; MDJ experience strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable speaking in court; organized and confident managing a high-volume docket.
  • Familiarity with MDJ e-filing and practices in Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
  • Paralegal certificate or ABA-approved paralegal program preferred.
  • Strong written documentation, attention to detail, and follow-through.
