Senior Director, Security Architecture

Remote + Travel - Framingham, MA

The Senior Director of Security Architecture is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of comprehensive security architectures across the organization. This role involves strategic planning, policy development, and leadership over multiple security departments, ensuring that security frameworks are robust, scalable, and aligned with the overall business objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strategic security architecture vision for the organization.
  • Lead the design and implementation of security solutions that protect against current and emerging threats.
  • Collaborate with IT and business leaders to integrate security considerations into broader technology and business strategies.
  • Oversee vulnerability audits, forensic investigations, and mitigation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international security standards and regulations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science or Related field OR equivalent years of work experience. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in security architecture or related cybersecurity roles.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing security solutions for large-scale enterprise environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of various security frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, and GDPR, with experience applying these standards in practical settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing security infrastructures, including network security, application security, and data protection.
  • Strong familiarity with compliance and risk management procedures relevant to security architecture.
  • Extensive experience with both on-premises and cloud-based security systems.
  • Proficient in using advanced security software and hardware tools.
  • Ability to develop and oversee the effective implementation of security policies and procedures.
  • Experience in leading security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or SABSA Chartered Security Architect.
  • Experience with advanced cybersecurity technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for threat detection and response.
  • Prior work in dynamic, hybrid IT environments, including significant experience with cloud security architectures across platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a multinational corporation with a proven ability to navigate complex global security challenges.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in leading large-scale security projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in emerging security practices and technologies, and a track record of implementing forward-thinking security measures.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with experience in managing contracts and engagements with security vendors and service providers.
  • Background in developing and implementing security awareness programs that enhance organizational culture around cybersecurity.

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity.  In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
