Job Summary

Hanover Bank is looking for a full-time Retail Regional Manager to join our team! The Retail Regional Manager will lead and drive deposit growth, sales performance, market expansion, and client retention across the branch network. This role provides strategic direction, coaching, and oversight to Branch Managers and Assistant Managers, ensuring consistent execution of a proactive, relationship-based sales and service model.

This leader will instill strong sales discipline, outbound prospecting practices, and effective pipeline management, with a focus on commercial and small business deposit growth. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of local markets and competitive dynamics to develop targeted strategies that increase market share, strengthen client relationships, and drive profitability.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Deposit Growth

  • Develop, execute, and continuously refine a regional sales and deposit growth strategy, with a strong focus on deepening consumer and small business relationships.
  • Establish and enforce activity-based sales expectations across all branches, including outbound calls, appointments, COI engagement, and pipeline management.
  • Drive accountability for new deposit generation, business account acquisition, and referral conversion at every branch.
  • Monitor and actively manage branch and regional pipelines, ensuring consistent follow-up, deal progression, and closing discipline.
  • Partner with Business Banking, Commercial Lending, and Cash Management teams to source, refer, and close new business opportunities.
  • Identify market trends, competitive threats, and growth opportunities to inform pricing, product, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Lead execution of sales campaigns, promotions, and targeted outreach initiatives to accelerate growth.

Proactive Service & Client Experience

  • Champion a proactive service culture, ensuring all branch teams engage clients in meaningful financial conversations that uncover needs and drive solutions.
  • Drive client retention and relationship deepening through structured outreach programs, portfolio reviews, and follow-up discipline.
  • Ensure consistent, high-touch client experience across all locations that differentiates the Bank in the marketplace.
  • Serve as an escalation point for client complaints, complex client issues, and resolving concerns while identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships.
  • Reinforce a culture that balances exceptional service with revenue growth and relationship expansion.

Retail Leadership & Sales Culture Development

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Branch Managers and Assistant Managers to build a high-performance, sales-driven culture.
  • Coach leaders on consultative selling, business development, and pipeline management, ensuring consistent execution across all branches.
  • Lead regular sales huddles, pipeline reviews, and performance discussions to reinforce accountability and drive results.
  • Conduct both announced and unannounced branch visits to inspect sales behaviors, client engagement, and team effectiveness.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent, with a strong focus on sales capability, leadership development, and succession planning.

Business Development & Community Engagement

  • Act as a market leader, maintaining a strong presence in the community through networking events, sponsorships, and professional organizations.
  • Cultivate and expand relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs) to drive referral-based business growth.
  • Support Branch Managers in developing and executing local market business development plans.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the Bank’s presence and reputation within each market.

Operations, Risk & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure all branches operate with operational excellence, maintaining adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee audit readiness, internal controls, and risk management practices across the region.
  • Serve as a key partner to Risk and Compliance teams to identify, escalate, and mitigate potential risks.
  • Balance growth initiatives with strong risk management discipline to protect the Bank.
  • Maintain approval authority for transactions, including wires, overdrafts, refunds, and fee waivers in accordance with policy.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive performance reporting, including branch-level and regional trends in deposits, sales activity, and pipeline health.
  • Analyze and communicate deposit fluctuations, portfolio trends, and growth opportunities to senior management.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold Branch Managers accountable for achieving sales, service, and operational goals.
  • Oversee payroll approvals, performance evaluations, and performance management processes for branch leadership and staff.
  • Lead the weekly rate market survey and provide recommendations for pricing strategies in collaboration with ALCO.

Strategic Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and Senior Management to enhance product offerings, improve client experience, and drive performance.
  • Identify and implement innovative strategies to improve sales effectiveness, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
  • Support strategic initiatives, special projects, and enterprise priorities as assigned.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, or finance, preferred but not required
  • 5 years of experience in regional Branch Management, Sales, or Operational Management, preferably in banking or banking-related industries
  • Strong knowledge of banking products, cash management, treasury management, compliance, and operations
