Position Title: Human Resource Manager
An established construction company is seeking a Human Resource Manager to oversee all aspects of human resources for its growing organization. This is a standalone leadership position ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys building relationships, navigating employee relations, ensuring compliance, and supporting a union workforce.
This role partners directly with executive leadership and plays a critical role in recruiting, onboarding, compliance, benefits administration, payroll support and employee engagement. The ideal candidate is confident handling challenging employee situations, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys improving processes while supporting a collaborative workplace culture.
Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000+ / Year DOE
Human Resource Manager Responsibilities:
  • Recruit and hire employees through union halls
  • Dispatch employees to various projects
  • Manage employee relations and terminations
  • Support workforce ramp-ups and reductions as projects begin and end
  • Oversee HR policies, employee records, and compliance with employment laws
  • Administer recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and new hire setups
  • Handle disciplinary actions, performance documentation, and terminations
  • Manage payroll administration, timecards, and leave tracking
  • Coordinate benefits, open enrollment, and employee benefit inquiries
  • Manage workers' compensation and safety training
  • Prepare HR compliance reports
  • Support union workforce administration, including dispatch coordination and grievances
  • Maintain DOT driver qualification files and employee training records

Human Resource Manager Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of California HR laws and best practices
  • Experience with payroll processes and HR administration
  • Approximately 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required
  • High school diploma is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Experience in the construction industry is required
  • Experience with Sage 100 Contractor is preferred
  • Union experience is preferred
