Key Responsibilities

The Mental Health Counselor will have a diverse array of responsibilities, including:

• Conducting thorough trauma-informed assessments to understand each patient's unique trauma history and current mental health status.
• Developing comprehensive, individualized treatment plans focusing on trauma recovery, resilience building, and overall mental health wellness.
• Implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), tailored to the needs of each patient.
• Facilitating individual and group therapy sessions designed to help patients process their trauma and develop effective coping strategies.
• Collaborating with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to ensure integrated care plans address all aspects of the patient's mental health.
• Providing crisis intervention during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring immediate support and safety for patients in distress.
• Educating patients and their families about trauma responses and the coping mechanisms available to help them navigate their recovery journeys.
• Maintaining comprehensive, confidential, and accurate documentation of patient interactions in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Participating in continuous professional development, case consultations, and team meetings to enhance skills in trauma-informed care.
• Staying informed about the latest research and best practices in trauma therapy to provide the highest level of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your focus will be on individuals who have experienced varying degrees of trauma, including those suffering from PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Working with a diverse clientele, you will guide patients through their recovery journeys, fostering healing and resilience.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure in one of the following: LMFT, LPC/MHSP, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Tennessee.
• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed treatment modalities and resilience-building techniques.
• Ability to work independently while being a vital part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience is required, preference will be given to candidates with:

• Practical experience delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions.
• A proven track record in effectively managing complex patient cases involving trauma and crisis situations.
• Familiarity using electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth technologies.

Compensation and Benefits
