Location: Houston, TX or U.S. Remote

Role Overview

HP is seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager who operates at enterprise scale, shaping strategy and driving execution of highly complex, cross-functional initiatives that directly support HP’s transformation to subscription-based offerings and long-term digital growth. This Principal-level role represents a recognized authority in technical program management for subscription-based software platforms.

This individual demonstrates deep mastery across subscription technologies, program delivery frameworks, and revenue lifecycle systems. They lead the design and execution of large, cross-division programs and deliver innovative solutions in highly ambiguous and evolving environments.

While not responsible for direct people management, this role acts as a functional leader, guiding senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to align on priorities, drive accountability, and achieve transformational outcomes.

Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic leader for the organization’s most complex, high-impact technical programs supporting subscription-based products and platforms.

  • Define and drive the end-to-end vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for subscription lifecycle capabilities, including onboarding, billing, entitlements, renewals, and usage-based monetization models.

  • Orchestrate execution across product management, engineering, finance, sales operations, legal, and customer success to deliver scalable, enterprise-grade subscription solutions.

  • Lead large-scale, cross-functional program delivery, ensuring alignment across multiple business units, geographies, and technical domains.

  • Establish and evolve program governance, operating models, and execution frameworks to support scalability and operational excellence.

  • Proactively identify and manage interdependencies, risks, and trade-offs across scope, schedule, cost, and quality; drive data-informed decision-making and mitigation strategies.

  • Provide clear, concise, and actionable executive communications, including program health, KPIs, financial impacts, risks, and strategic decisions.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, financial, and security requirements, partnering closely with finance, legal, and audit stakeholders.

  • Drive continuous improvement of subscription platforms, processes, and customer experiences through innovation, automation, and modernization initiatives.

Subscription Program Focus AreasSmall and Medium Enterprise (SME) Subscription Programs
  • Deliver highly scalable, standardized subscription offerings with simplified pricing and packaging models.
  • Drive automation across the quote-to-cash lifecycle, including provisioning, billing, and renewals to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Partner with channel and digital teams to enable seamless self-service customer experiences.
  • Leverage rapid experimentation and data insights to improve customer acquisition, adoption, retention, and expansion.
Enterprise Subscription Programs
  • Lead programs supporting complex, large-scale enterprise agreements, including multi-year contracts, custom pricing structures, and co-termination strategies.
  • Coordinate across legal, finance, and compliance functions to ensure contract accuracy, audit readiness, and revenue recognition adherence.
  • Drive implementation of advanced billing architectures, including tiered, usage-based, and hybrid monetization models.
  • Enable enterprise-grade reporting, forecasting, and executive dashboards to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead large-scale transformation initiatives to modernize legacy licensing models into scalable subscription platforms.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management, portfolio management, or related roles within SaaS or subscription-based businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, complex, cross-functional programs with enterprise-wide impact.
  • Deep expertise in Agile, SAFe, and scaled program execution methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven track record leading subscription platform transformations or monetization strategy initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end revenue lifecycle, billing systems, and enterprise customer requirements.
  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across technical and business domains.
  • Experience operating in highly matrixed, global organizations with competing priorities.

The base pay range for this role is $155,000 - $225,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
