What are Remote Talent Recruiters?

Remote Talent Recruiters are professionals who specialize in identifying, attracting, and hiring qualified candidates for job openings, all while working remotely. They typically use digital tools and platforms to source candidates, conduct interviews, and manage the hiring process without needing to be physically present in an office. Their role is crucial for companies seeking to find top talent from a global pool, especially in the context of remote or distributed teams. Remote Talent Recruiters must excel in communication, organization, and digital networking. They play a key role in ensuring that companies build strong, diverse, and effective remote teams.

How do I become a remote recruiter?

To become a remote talent recruiter, you typically need relevant experience in recruiting or human resources, strong communication skills, and familiarity with applicant tracking systems and online sourcing tools. Many remote recruiters work independently or for staffing agencies, often requiring a reliable internet connection and a flexible schedule. Gaining certifications like the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Certified Recruitment Professional can also enhance your prospects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Talent Recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Talent Recruiter, you need a solid understanding of recruitment processes, sourcing strategies, and talent evaluation, often supported by a degree in human resources or related fields. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruitment platforms like LinkedIn, and experience with video interviewing tools are typically required. Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills help set top recruiters apart. These skills are essential to efficiently identify, engage, and secure the best candidates in a competitive and virtual hiring environment.

How does a Remote Talent Recruiter typically collaborate with hiring managers and teams across different time zones?

As a Remote Talent Recruiter, you'll frequently coordinate with hiring managers and team members located in multiple regions, which can pose scheduling challenges. To manage this, recruiters often use asynchronous communication tools like email, Slack, or applicant tracking systems, and schedule regular check-ins at mutually convenient times. Building strong relationships with stakeholders and maintaining clear, proactive communication helps ensure alignment on job requirements, candidate feedback, and interview processes, even when working remotely. Flexibility and good time management are key to succeeding in this collaborative, distributed work environment.

Job description

At Neighbor, we're building the largest hyperlocal marketplace the world has ever seen. We've raised over $75 million from top-tier investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and the CEOs of DoorDash, StockX, and Uber. Our marketplace is already flourishing in all 50 states and we're just getting started!

About the Role

To keep pace with our rapid growth, we're expanding our recruiting team. We're looking for an experienced Recruiter who is serious about every phase of the hiring lifecycle and committed to Neighbor's first core value: Hire & Develop the Best.ย

In this role, you'll be a key talent partner embedded across the business, covering the full spectrum of roles: Software Engineering, Finance and Data, Sales, Marketing, and Support. You'll work closely with operators and leaders across all of these functions to bring in the people who will define what Neighbor becomes.

Above all else, we're looking for someone that can sell the vision of Neighbor and attract world-class talent to apply to our positions.

  • Design and facilitate interview processes that accurately assess talent and remove bias
  • Partner with hiring managers to sharpen their interviewing skills
  • Be a champion for the high bar on candidate quality and find ways to raise the bar
  • Learn Neighbor's business deeply to represent it credibly to candidates and act as a true strategic partner to stakeholders
  • Use data to track pipeline health, hiring velocity, and the quality of each hire
Qualifications
Required
  • 3+ years of recruiting experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication, direct, clear, and not afraid to push back
  • First principles approach to problem solving; you remove roadblocks rather than work around them
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple searches simultaneously
Preferred
  • Experience at a growth-stage tech startup or recruiting agency
  • Technical recruiting experience,ย
  • ย especially hiring senior software engineers
  • Prior sales experience
  • Familiarity with using data to validate hiring outcomes
  • Confident, coachable, and thrives in a fast-moving environment
Benefits
  • Generous Stock options
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous PTO
  • 11 paid company holidays
  • Hybrid work model - WFH every Monday
  • 401(k) plan
  • Infant care leave
  • On-site gym/showers open 24/7
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
