Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Step Up on Second, your primary responsibilities will entail:

• Administering clinical services and developing person-centered, recovery-oriented treatment plans tailored to the individual needs of each client.
• Conducting continual assessments of clients' treatment needs to ensure the effectiveness of the strategies implemented.
• Assisting clients in developing individualized service plans that encompass measurable goals and outcomes.
• Facilitating skill-building activities that empower clients with coping strategies, problem-solving techniques, and enhanced communication skills.
• Providing education about available community resources and advocating on behalf of clients to streamline their access to these vital services.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily focus on individuals aged 18 and older who may experience challenges related to mental illness, affecting their ability to maintain community stability and independence. You will adeptly handle a diverse range of mental health issues, employing your expertise to create a welcoming and judgment-free space for clients as they endeavor to find their path to recovery.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess:

• A Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology.
• A current and valid state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Psychologist (PsyD).
• The capability to practice independently without supervision and a clean disciplinary history on your license.
• Proficient computer skills and a reliable internet connection to facilitate remote therapy sessions.

Preferred Experience

While a commitment to supporting clients is essential, additional preferred qualifications include:

• Experience delivering direct clinical services, providing movement toward recovery.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills paired with a sympathetic nature, allowing you to form trusting relationships with clients.
• A strong understanding of behavioral management strategies and techniques, enabling you to assist clients effectively in managing symptoms and their everyday challenges.
