Senior Segmentation Analyst
Reports to: Senior Manager, CRM Operations
General Summary
Designs and delivers customer audiences that power meaningful, timely marketing across email, mobile, digital, and direct mail channels. Partners closely with Growth Marketing, CRM, and Lifecycle teams to translate campaign ideas into precise, scalable segmentation logic. Brings deep expertise in customer data to ensure audiences are accurate, thoughtfully targeted, and ready to perform. Plays an essential role in enabling high-quality customer experiences through strong judgment, curiosity, and operational excellence.
The Opportunity
This role sits at the center of Designer Brands' customer marketing engine. As a Senior Segmentation Analyst, you'll shape how and when customers connect with our brands by building audiences that support CRM, lifecycle, and direct marketing programs. You'll influence campaign success behind the scenes-balancing precision with scale, advising partners on what's possible, and ensuring every audience is thoughtfully constructed before it ever reaches a customer.
If you enjoy turning complex data into clear, actionable segments-and want your work to directly impact how millions of customers experience a brand-this role offers both visibility and ownership.
What You'll Be Doing
Customer Segmentation & Audience Execution
  • Build and deploy customer audiences for email, push, SMS, web/app, lifecycle, and direct mail campaigns
  • Translate campaign briefs, business rules, and segmentation frameworks into accurate audience logic
  • Apply sound judgment to balance targeting precision, audience scale, system constraints, and data quality

Segmentation Expertise & Partner Collaboration
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert in customer data, eligibility rules, and targeting best practices
  • Partner with Marketing and CRM teams to assess segmentation feasibility and recommend thoughtful tradeoffs
  • Identify potential risks, edge cases, or unintended customer impacts before launch

Technical & Platform Execution
  • Independently build, validate, and deploy audiences using RedPoint Interaction and downstream platforms such as Braze
  • Use SQL to query, validate, and troubleshoot customer data in Google BigQuery
  • Maintain a strong working understanding of data sources, suppression logic, and channel-specific requirements

Operational Excellence & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all segmentation is thoroughly QA'd, accurate, and delivered on time
  • Troubleshoot data or logic issues efficiently and proactively
  • Contribute to improvements that enhance speed, accuracy, and scalability of segmentation workflows
  • Adapt quickly as strategies, priorities, and platform capabilities evolve

Leadership & Enablement (Non-Managerial)
  • Mentor and support junior analysts and peers by sharing knowledge and strengthening technical skills
  • Help elevate team-wide capability in segmentation, customer platforms, and problem-solving approaches
  • Establish and maintain best practices, documentation, and standards for audience targeting

What You'll Need
Required Skills
  • Strong experience with advanced customer segmentation and audience targeting
  • High proficiency with audience-building platforms such as RedPoint Interaction or similar tools
  • Working knowledge of CRM channels, including email, mobile messaging, and direct mail
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying, filtering, joining datasets, and validating outputs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain targeting logic and recommendations to partners
  • Adaptable, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment

Minimum Experience
  • 4+ years of experience executing customer segmentation in a CRM, lifecycle, or direct marketing environment
  • Advanced proficiency with audience-building and/or customer data platforms
  • Regular, hands-on use of SQL to support segmentation, analysis, or troubleshooting

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Statistics, Psychology, another social science, or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in retail and/or ecommerce marketing
  • Background in loyalty programs or customer analytics
  • Experience using Braze or similar customer engagement platforms
