What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Remote Mailing position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Remote Mailing position, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with mailing software, database management systems, and basic office equipment is often required. Reliability, time management, and clear communication are important soft skills for managing tasks independently and ensuring accuracy. These skills are crucial for maintaining efficient operations and timely delivery in a remote work environment.

What are some common challenges faced in a Remote Mailing position and how can they be managed?

In a Remote Mailing role, one common challenge is ensuring timely and accurate handling of physical mail while working away from a centralized office. This often requires strict organization, reliable access to mailing supplies, and effective communication with supervisors and team members to coordinate pick-ups, drop-offs, or digital tracking. To manage these challenges, remote mail clerks typically establish clear routines, utilize digital tools for tracking correspondence, and maintain organized records to avoid errors or delays. Staying proactive in communication with both internal teams and external mailing services is key to ensuring smooth workflow.

What is remote mailing?

Remote mailing refers to the process of managing and sending mail—such as letters, packages, or documents—without being physically present at a mailing facility or office. Individuals or companies use digital tools and online services to upload documents, which are then printed, packaged, and mailed by third-party providers. This job can involve tasks like preparing digital files, managing addresses, and tracking deliveries, all from a remote location. Remote mailing is popular for businesses seeking efficient, contactless, or geographically flexible mailing solutions.

Description
Forum Communications Printing is expanding, and we're looking for a driven B2B Sales Executive to help grow our commercial print and mailing business across the Midwest. This is a fully remote role within our Upper Midwest footprint (ND, SD, MN, or WI) offering the autonomy to manage your territory, build meaningful client relationships, and drive revenue growth, all while backed by a respected, 5th-generation, family-owned media organization.
If you thrive in consultative B2B sales and enjoy turning complex marketing needs into tangible, high-impact solutions, this could be your next step!
What You'll Be Selling
You'll represent a full suite of commercial printing and mailing solutions that help organizations communicate at scale and drive measurable engagement, including:
  • Magazines, catalogs, and books
  • Trade show and event materials
  • Brochures and glossy inserts
  • Direct mail campaigns and postcards
  • Variable data printing and personalized mail
  • Statements and transactional printing
  • Annual reports
  • Fulfillment services and first-class mail pick-up
  • Print and digital publication solutions

This isn't transactional print sales. It's solution-based selling, partnering with professionals to execute strategic print and mailing programs that support business objectives.
The Opportunity
This is a growth-focused territory role, responsible for building new relationships, developing a strong pipeline, and managing the full sales lifecycle.
You'll work independently - but not alone. Our internal production, design, and customer service teams provide strong operational support so you can focus on revenue generation and client strategy.
We're looking for someone who wants to own and grow a defined Midwest territory, and create income growth through performance.
What Success Looks Like
  • Proactively developing new business opportunities within your territory
  • Building a sustainable pipeline of qualified prospects
  • Delivering customized proposals aligned with client goals
  • Meeting and exceeding established revenue targets
  • Identifying cross-sell opportunities across print and related solutions
  • Staying informed on industry trends and competitive activity

What You Bring to the Table
  • Proven B2B or outside sales experience
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business and close deals
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Self-discipline and motivation to succeed in a fully remote environment
  • Residency within ND, SD, MN, or WI
  • Willingness to travel within assigned territory (25-35%) Travel is regional and typically planned in advance, for client meetings, industry events, and internal collaboration
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record

What Will Really Make You Stand Out
  • Experience selling commercial printing, marketing services, or related solutions
  • Existing network of Midwest marketing, agency, or procurement contacts
  • Familiarity with variable data printing, cross-media campaigns, or web-to-print solutions
  • Understanding of offset, digital, or large-format printing processes

Expected compensation for this role is between $70,000 and $100,000/year (salary + uncapped commission), based on qualifications and experience.
