Intern Project:
The Web Development Intern will support the ongoing technical management of CALSTART's portfolio of websites, as well as upcoming initiatives including the company-wide rebrand and website rebuild and the integration of newly acquired web properties. Under the supervision of the Senior Web Developer, the intern will assist with quality assurance, accessibility testing, analytics validation, technical documentation, issue triage, minor front-end development, and pre- and post-launch testing.
Intern Project Key Deliverables:
Key deliverables will include a centralized technical inventory for CALSTART's websites, documented quality assurance and accessibility audits, standardized website testing and launch checklists, and technical documentation for newly acquired web properties. The intern will also support the company rebrand and website rebuild by assisting with content migration validation, redirect mapping, responsive testing, analytics verification, and pre- and post-launch quality assurance. Additional deliverables may include minor front-end improvements and documented resolutions for identified website issues.
Qualifications
  • Completed at least three years of accredited college/university-level coursework pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Media, or another related field.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and task management abilities.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced remote work environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in internal and external teams with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Foundational experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive web design, and content management systems such as WordPress.
  • Familiarity with website quality assurance, accessibility standards, analytics tools, version control, and browser developer tools is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, document findings clearly, and learn new platforms and technologies quickly.

Desired Qualification:
  • Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web design.
  • Experience with WordPress or another content management system.
  • Familiarity with website quality assurance, cross-browser testing, and browser developer tools.
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards and best practices, including WCAG.
  • Familiarity with Git or other version-control systems.
  • Basic experience with web analytics, tag management, or performance-testing tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new platforms and technologies.
