AMN Language Services Video Audio Remote Interpreter
Summary: The Video Audio Remote Interpreter will cover a wide – range of shifts to serve our limited English proficient (LEP) community and the practitioners that serve them in a variety of medical, legal and community interpreting settings via video.

Video Interpreter Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective video remote interpreting service for consumers. While this position is primarily video interpreting, there may be occasional audio calls.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined by AMN Language Services
  • Always exhibit professional behavior including regular attendance, punctuality and preparedness for shifts, respectful and collaborative interaction with colleagues and supervisors, and timely and accurate record keeping.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing technologies.
  • Complete video and platform training and pass the internal readiness check before taking live calls.
  • Participate in ongoing quality assurance and call monitoring programs.
Required Qualifications:
  • Fluent and have strong verbal communication skills in both the source and target language
  • Successful completion of a medical language proficiency assessment focused on interpreter protocols and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Respect for and understanding of our Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients, culture, dialect and beliefs and preferences as it relates to legal/medical care.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of professional US based medical interpreting experience
  • National interpreting certification CCHI or CMI
  • Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
  • Accredited Medical Interpreting Training course (i.e.: ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour accredited medical courses).
  • Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, and NCIHC).
  • Familiarity with the medical profession and its privacy laws (HIPAA) as well as other state and federals laws applied to medical interpreting.
Home Office Requirements:
  • Private Room with full length (floor to ceiling) walls
  • Door that can be closed and locked for privacy.
  • Hardwired high speed Internet connection
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended durations (up to 8 hours)
  • Ability to use an on-ear headset (both ears) for duration of work shift
  • Ability to use a web camera to interact with patients and providers in medical scenarios.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • Required to walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; talk and hear
