Position Description: 

Role: Digital Accessibility Expert (ADObe, PDF and 508, WCAG, PDF/UA)

Location: Denver, Colorado – Must Relocate

Duration: 5 months

Position Description: 

The Specialist will use a variety of manual and automated techniques to ensure that documents comply, at a minimum, with all applicable accessibility criteria.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Using Adobe Acrobat, CommonLook, and similar tools to remediate PDF documents in order to ensure compliance with accessibility standards; ensure that complex documents meet or exceed all applicable standards. 
  • Other document remediation assignments could include web pages, Microsoft Office documents 
  • Using assistive technologies, such as screen readers (such as JAWS, Narrator, or NVDA), to manually ensure that document experiences are equitable and functional. 
  • Support and fulfill accessibility accommodation requests from external stakeholders. 
  • Track and report on progress and activities related to document remediation. 
  • Monitor and review updated or new accessibility and document standards as appropriate. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe as well as the ability to quickly learn and apply other software skills. 
  • Software: Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience authoring and remediating documents for accessibility which includes experience auditing documents for accessibility compliance.  
  • 4-6 years of experience using Adobe Acrobat/Pro and Microsoft Office
  • Software: CommonLook PDF or other document remediation tools; Screen Readers (JAWS, NVDA, Narrator, etc.) and other assistive technology used for manual accessibility testing
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, prioritization, and collaboration skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify and analyze issues and develop appropriate solutions and plans of action 
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards such as Section 508, WCAG, PDF/UA
  • Strong attention to technical detail
