About the Role
The Controller will lead all aspects of Haven's accounting group including management of the closing process, validation and reconciliation of all accounts, compilation of consolidated and stand-alone financial statements, leading external audits, and coordination with external tax and technical accounting advisors. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate general ledger management, overseeing key process cycles and managing compliance within a robust internal controls environment.
This role will also lead the buildout of the team and systems as we continue to grow. We focus on efficiency and platform integration to take advantage of automation where possible. We will be implementing a new ERP system in the second half of this year, this role will be instrumental in driving that initiative in coordination with other business units.
This is a high-ownership, high-impact role at the intersection of finance, product, and growth, with a direct line of sight into company strategy and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Group Lead
Ensure general ledger fidelity in accordance with US GAAP.
Complete monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles efficiently.
Drive key process cycles on A/R, A/P, Procurement, and Revenue
Maintain compliance with internal control frameworks
Manage and develop the members of the accounting group.
Audits and Regulatory Requirements
Complete annual audits timely and efficiently
Oversee external tax preparation and submission
Ensure compliance with financial reporting deliverables internally and externally
Financial Planning and Analysis
Work closely with senior management to develop recurring internal reporting and key metric tracking across sales, inventory, financing, and budgeting.
Identify opportunities for improvement across the firms operations.
Lead review of new financial initiatives and process improvements across the firm.
Oversee budgeting and forecasting efforts across the firm.
Qualifications & Experience
15+ years of experience in accountancy, assurance services, or controllership roles.
Detailed knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting issues related to our business: revenue recognition, lease accounting, debt facilities, and tax equity structures.
3+ years of experience with residential solar and storage financial products strongly preferred
Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field required.
Active CPA license.
5+ years of public accounting experience
Experience managing and growing accounting teams.
