Job description

We are a fast-growing and dynamic Intellectual Property law firm specializing in the prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. We are seeking a full-time (or part-time) Patent and Trademark Docketing Clerk. It is important that you understand patent and trademark deadlines (US, international, and foreign), are highly computer savvy (experience with telecommuting is preferred), energetic, easy-going, and flexible. We are looking for someone that pays extremely close attention to detail, is able to multi-task, can handle a variety of attorney personalities, and generally require very little supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Docketing US and foreign deadlines for patents and trademarks (PATTSY) with a zero error rate;
  • Processing and saving incoming emails from clients/USPTO/PCT/foreign associates;
  • Corresponding with foreign counsels and foreign IP offices;
  • Generating and sending out weekly attorney docket reports;
  • Diligently and relentlessly following up with attorneys regarding their dockets and deadlines;
  • Generating client status reports including researching to confirm status of pending or issued applications at the USPTO and in foreign IP offices;
  • Facilitating and handling the entire process of transferring in/out of clients/matters (coordinating with old/new firm, obtaining necessary POAs, reviewing each individual matter for accuracy, inputting all data into our docket, etc.
  • Otherwise assisting in other administrative tasks to ensure a smooth office workflow.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.A./B.S. degree or similar preferred;
  • At least 4 years of experience in a docketing role for both patents and trademarks;
  • PATTSY experience preferred.
  • Highly competent PC/Windows user including advanced familiarity with keyboard shortcuts.

This position is 100% remote. You must provide your own stable internet connection. The full-time salary range is between 64,000-68,000/yearly. Our regular business hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm (Pacific Time) including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break, however, if you are located in Eastern Time, your hours will be 10:00am-7:00pm (Eastern Time), if you are located in Central Time, your hours will be 10:00am-7:00pm (Central Time), and if you are located in Mountain Time, your hours will be 9:30am-6:30pm (Mountain Time). For part-time hours, we would prefer 5-hours/daily from 11:00am-4:00pm (Pacific Time). The part-time rate would be $32.00/hourly.
