Position Overview

The Defense Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and developing new business opportunities that support Aegis Power Systemsโ€™ national sales and marketing efforts. This U.S.-based remote role reports directly to the Sales Strategy Chief and focuses on generating qualified leads, building customer relationships, and supporting strategic revenue growth.

The BDR works closely with the sales and engineering teams to identify new customers, programs, and opportunities within the defense, aerospace, and high-reliability electronics markets.

The ideal candidate has familiarity with electronics hardware design or manufacturing, enabling them to effectively qualify power conversion opportunities and engage technical stakeholders.

This is a highly customer-facing role requiring strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and a hunter mindset to proactively engage prospective customers across engineering, program management, procurement, executive leadership, and military program offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, including new customers, programs, and divisions within existing accounts
  • Generate and qualify leads through industry events, targeted outreach, webinars, and marketing campaigns
  • Support responses to SBIR, OTA, and other U.S. government R&D funding solicitations
  • Initiate NDAs and coordinate technical discussions between customer engineering teams and Aegis Sales Engineers
  • Maintain accurate opportunity tracking and engagement records within the company CRM system
  • Maintain ongoing communication with prospective customers until opportunities are qualified or disqualified
  • Represent Aegis at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings across the United States
  • Support sales pipeline development and assist in advancing opportunities toward proposal and contract stages

Required Qualifications

  • Experience using CRM systems for lead tracking, quoting, and pipeline reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to discuss technical power conversion concepts with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue prospective customers and business opportunities
  • Experience with B2B lead generation and opportunity qualification Experience supporting marketing campaigns, webinars, or industry outreach initiatives
  • Willingness to travel domestically (~25%)
  • Hunter mindset with persistence in customer outreach and relationship development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) or a related technical field
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or power electronics industries
  • Familiarity with DoD program offices, SBIR, OTA, or government technology funding programs
