Location: Remote EST (Candidates must live in NY, PA, NJ,ย  MD/VA, New England, or NC) ย 
Reports To: Chief Distributed Generation Officer
Exemption Status: Exempt

The Project Development DG โ€“ Manager / Senior Associate position requires a strong commitment to maintaining a cross functional skill set in project management, financial understanding, policy understanding, and project origination.
Your Core Responsibilities
  • Project Development Management Support execution (site control through to NTP) of a subset of the distributed generation businessโ€™ pipeline of projects by contributing to the management of vendors, tasks, timelines, managing budget, and other activities necessary to drive a project to completion.
  • Project Reporting: Manage key monthly and quarterly reporting metrics (budgets, timelines, risk assessments) for internal and investor relations.
  • Market & Pipeline Growth: Support the distributed generation teamโ€™s ongoing growth initiatives in existing and new DG markets across the United States via policy tracking and analysis, negotiating and closing land control agreements, and identifying and reviewing suitable opportunities for development.
  • Permitting and Community Engagement: Attend in-person permitting and community relationship meetings to support pipeline advancement as necessary.
  • Other: NewEdge is a rapidly growing organization. Job duties may evolve over time to best support the continued growth of the business.

Experience Qualifiers
  • Manager: 6+ย years of relevant experience in distributed generation (community solar, small utility scale, or C&I) renewable energy development and/or origination.

Required Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a technical or business-related field including, but not limited to, economics, business, finance, pre-law, or community development.
  • Strong understanding of the United States community solar and distributed generation industry.
  • At least two years prior experience of successfully completing projects in Maryland, New York, Illinois, and/or other community solar markets in the Eastern United States.
  • Understanding of common renewable energy development contracts (land agreements, PPAs, PILOTs, MIPAs)
  • Understanding of basic renewable energy engineering and technical design considerations for solar and battery storage projects.
  • Ability to travel 25%-30% of the time for project related activities, often at short notice (e.g. landowner meetings, permitting meetings, etc.)
  • Highly analytical mindset with a curiosity to figure new things out.
  • Strong understanding of Excel, PowerPoint, project management software/methods, GIS, and Helioscope
  • Team player with a willingness to engage across the organization
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and respect for others.
  • Self-starter with a strong passion for the clean energy industry.
Preferred Differentiators
  • Prior experience in an entrepreneurial environment and/or working for a small-to-medium size project development company (<20 people).
  • Prior experience supporting the building of software-based systems to support project development.
  • PMP Certification or similar
  • Masterโ€™s Degree
