Job description

UpLift & BetterHelp โ€“ Redefining Access to Mental Healthcare

At UpLift, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health โ€” and we're rethinking the mental healthcare model. UpLift is a multi-sided marketplace, applying technology to empower patients to find Therapists and Psychiatric providers covered by their insurance plan.

While 1 in 5 Americans struggle with mental health issues, only 40% of this group received care in the last year. At the same time, only 30% of therapists accept insurance. UpLift acts as the bridge between patient, provider, and insurer โ€” empowering patients to find the best care for their needs at a price they can afford.

Why Join UpLift

  • Flexible earnings model*: Compensation includes both patient care and collaboration activities. Physicians can earn $25 per assigned supervision slot (in capped states) and $30 per completed chart review. Total monthly earnings may vary based on state coverage and activity.
  • Expand access to care: Provide psychiatric services to individuals who otherwise may not have access to mental healthcare.
  • Collaborative model: Support and supervise Nurse Practitioners (NPs) through formal collaboration agreements, including chart reviews and consultation.
  • All-in-one virtual platform: Focus on your patients โ€” UpLift handles credentialing, enrollment, and platform operations.
  • Work from anywhere: This role is 100% remote, with care delivered via UpLift's purpose-built telemedicine platform.
  • Flexible commitment: Part-time, 1099 contract position with autonomy over your clinical schedule.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct video consultations and communicate with patients via telemedicine.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients, including prescribing medication when clinically appropriate.
  • Provide supervision and oversight to Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in states requiring collaborative agreements.
  • Complete required chart reviews and provide timely consultation support to NPs.
  • Maintain responsiveness for collaboration duties in accordance with state requirements and UpLift standards.
  • Coordinate care with UpLift's network of therapists and other providers to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide empathetic, evidence-based care while upholding UpLift's clinical and service standards.
  • Share product and workflow feedback with UpLift's engineering and operations teams to help improve care delivery.

Who We're Looking For

  • Board-certified Psychiatrist with active clinical experience.
  • Active and unrestricted medical license(s) in one or more of the following priority states: Virginia, Texas, Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina.
  • Multi-state licensure strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising or collaborating with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (e.g. NPs) is preferred.
  • Comfortable prescribing medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by state law.
  • Skilled at using online tools and technology to deliver virtual care.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide timely consultation support.
  • Previous telemedicine experience is a plus.

Important to Know

  • This is a part-time, contract (1099) position โ€” not a salaried employee role.
  • Physicians may set their own schedules for patient care; however, collaboration responsibilities require ongoing responsiveness.
  • Physicians may stop seeing patients at any time, but collaborative agreement responsibilities require a 120-day wind-down period to ensure continuity of care.
  • Compensation structure varies by state depending on collaboration requirements (capped vs. uncapped states).
  • UpLift will credential and enroll you with multiple health plans to expand access to insured patients.
  • All care is delivered remotely through UpLift's telehealth platform.
  • All clinical decisions are made independently by licensed providers in accordance with state telehealth laws and professional standards.

License/Certification: Medical License (Required)

Location: Ohio

Work Location: Remote

*Compensation is paid on a per-activity basis and is not a guaranteed hourly wage or salary amount. Actual earnings vary based on state-requirements, completed activities, patient care activity, and other operational factors.
