Job description

A Brief Overview

The IAM Engineer will be an integral member of the Information Security Identity and Access Management (IAM) team, dedicated to delivering and securing technology that aligns with the University Hospital's mission. In this role, IAM Engineer will collaborate closely with Information Security, various business units, and IT teams to enhance service delivery and optimize IAM processes. As a key contributor, will identify opportunities for improvement and design innovative solutions that promote efficiency and effectiveness. Utilizing technology and software development skills, will create new integrations and automations that provide technical solutions and self-service capabilities, thereby enabling business operations while ensuring robust security services.

What You Will Do
  • Design, maintain IAM tools and documentation of processes and audit-related policies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and engage in design, prototyping, and configuration activities to document solutions that meet business needs.
  • Conduct research to address complex challenges and provide innovative solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement IAM solutions, including automation, to enhance Identity and Access Management services.
  • Leverage your security expertise to ensure that implemented solutions achieve optimal security, performance, quality, and user responsiveness.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for automation that improve user experience, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Work effectively within a team environment, including remote members, to define and implement technical and automation improvements.
  • Research and resolve first tier problems via Service Desk Trouble Tickets.
  • Develop unique skills & abilities valued by their peers.
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner. Partner with other teams as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Hours commensurate with standard system administration responsibilities including 24 x 7 production support on a rotating basis.
  • Performs occasional night/weekend work as assigned/needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education
 

  • Bachelor's Degree In Information Technology (Required)

Work Experience
 

  • 8 years in information security, identity management, and access control. (Required)
  • Previous experience in a healthcare provider environment (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
 

  • Comprehensive understanding of the IAM cybersecurity landscape, include identity stores, authentication/authorization methods and privileged access management. (Required proficiency)
  • Proficient in Azure IAM, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Access Controls, and Entra ID. (Required proficiency)
  • Proficient in coding with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages. (Required proficiency)
  • Functional knowledge of database concepts. (Required proficiency)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, coupled with analytical and problem-solving abilities. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. (Required proficiency)
  • Capable of effectively prioritizing multiple simultaneous requests and tasks while managing conflicting demands. (Required proficiency)
