Professionals in remote Air Force contracting often face challenges related to communication and collaboration, as much of the contracting work requires coordination with multiple stakeholders, such as program managers, legal teams, and vendors. Working remotely can make it more difficult to build relationships and ensure all parties are aligned on requirements and timelines. To overcome these challenges, it’s important to leverage secure communication platforms, schedule regular virtual check-ins, and maintain organized documentation. Staying proactive and transparent helps ensure contract requirements are met efficiently, even when working from different locations.

What is remote Air Force contracting?

Remote Air Force contracting involves handling the procurement and management of goods and services for the United States Air Force while working from a location outside of a traditional Air Force base or office. Professionals in this role negotiate contracts, ensure compliance with federal regulations, and manage supplier relationships, all using digital communication and procurement systems. This position allows for greater flexibility while still supporting critical Air Force missions by securing the necessary resources for operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Air Force Contracting specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Air Force Contracting specialist, you need a solid background in acquisition, procurement regulations, and government contracting, usually supported by a relevant bachelor's degree and DAWIA or FAC-C certification. Familiarity with contract management systems like PIEE, SAM.gov, and FAR is typically required. Strong attention to detail, negotiation abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for managing complex contracts and stakeholder relationships. These skills ensure compliance, cost-effectiveness, and support mission success in a highly regulated and remote environment.

Compensation: $55,000–$80,000
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

About Air Force HVAC
Air Force HVAC is one of South Florida's fastest-growing HVAC companies, providing residential and commercial HVAC service, maintenance, replacement, indoor air quality solutions, and large capital improvement projects.
We're building a company designed for long-term success through exceptional people, operational excellence, technology, and customer service.
We're looking for someone who wants more than a job—they want to learn how to build a business.

The Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to work directly alongside the CEO as his right hand.
No two days are the same.
One morning you may be negotiating a subcontract agreement, the afternoon interviewing a new employee, and the next day walking a commercial project, preparing a proposal for a municipality, or meeting with a major client.
You'll gain exposure to nearly every aspect of running a high-growth company, including operations, finance, sales, marketing, recruiting, business development, strategic planning, and executive decision-making.
If you're ambitious, hardworking, and eager to accelerate your career, this role offers an exceptional learning opportunity and a clear path for growth.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Support & Special Projects
  • Partner directly with the CEO on day-to-day priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Help solve operational challenges and keep key projects moving.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and business analyses.
  • Track company priorities and ensure accountability.
  • Jump into whatever is needed to help the business succeed.
Operations & Client Success
  • Attend customer meetings and project walkthroughs.
  • Assist with client communications and follow-up.
  • Help resolve customer issues and ensure exceptional service.
  • Follow active projects from start to finish while coordinating with operations.
Business Development
  • Build and manage targeted business development campaigns.
  • Create target lists of property owners, property managers, municipalities, healthcare systems, schools, hospitality groups, and commercial clients.
  • Execute thoughtful, high-touch outbound outreach.
  • Help register Air Force HVAC with large corporations, government agencies, and institutional clients.
  • Evaluate incoming bid opportunities and determine which projects are worth pursuing.
  • Attend job walks and pre-bid meetings.
Recruiting & Talent
  • Source, interview, and recruit exceptional employees.
  • Coordinate hiring efforts across the business.
  • Assist with onboarding and organizational development.
Vendor & Subcontractor Development
  • Recruit and qualify new subcontractors throughout Florida.
  • Expand and strengthen our subcontractor network.
  • Negotiate pricing and service agreements.
  • Build long-term vendor relationships.
Finance & Administration
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable initiatives for our sister company, United Water Restoration Group.
  • Support collections and customer follow-up.
  • Help prepare operational and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate special administrative and strategic projects.
Cross-Company Collaboration
Work closely with both Air Force HVAC and United Water Restoration Group to:
  • Share commercial opportunities.
  • Coordinate cross-selling efforts.
  • Improve customer follow-up and client experience.
  • Develop strategic partnerships across both businesses.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1–5 years of professional experience preferred.
  • Construction or HVAC experience is not required.
  • Exceptional work ethic with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
  • Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with executives, customers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Willingness to travel throughout South Florida for meetings, client visits, and project walkthroughs.

Who You Are
  • Naturally curious and eager to learn.
  • Highly dependable and accountable.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
  • Enjoy solving problems and taking ownership.
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats.
  • Looking for a long-term career, not just your next job.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $55,000–$80,000 (based on experience)
  • Health benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • Direct mentorship from the CEO
  • Significant opportunities for advancement as the company continues to grow

Why Join Air Force HVAC?
This is an exceptional stepping stone for someone who wants to become a future business leader, entrepreneur, operator, or executive.
You'll work directly with the CEO on strategy, operations, finance, sales, marketing, recruiting, customer relationships, and growth initiatives. Few roles provide this level of exposure so early in a career.
If you're looking for an opportunity to learn quickly, make a meaningful impact, and help build one of South Florida's fastest-growing HVAC companies, we'd love to hear from you.
