What is a remote account manager?

A Remote Account Manager is a professional responsible for managing client accounts and building customer relationships while working from a location outside the traditional office, often from home. They communicate with clients via phone, email, or video calls, ensuring their needs are met and resolving any issues. Remote Account Managers handle tasks such as client onboarding, upselling products or services, and coordinating with internal teams to deliver solutions. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently.

What does a remote account manager do?

A remote account manager oversees client relationships for a brand, production company, or advertising agency. In this virtual position, you may work from home and use a phone, video conferencing, chat, or text to perform your duties. Your primary responsibilities are to work closely with your clients to ensure that their sales and marketing goals are being met. You may set up meetings between advertising directors and your clients, work as an advocate on behalf of your clients’ interests, and provide customer service. Account managers may work with a range of clients at an ad agency or find employment in-house for an organization, such as a video game company or apparel manufacturer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote account manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Account Manager, you need a strong background in sales, client relationship management, and a relevant degree such as business or marketing. Familiarity with CRM software (like Salesforce or HubSpot), virtual collaboration tools, and digital communication platforms is typically required. These skills and qualities ensure effective client management, seamless remote collaboration, and the achievement of sales targets from a distance.

How does a remote account manager maintain strong client relationships without in-person meetings?

Remote Account Managers rely heavily on proactive communication, utilizing video calls, emails, and instant messaging to stay connected with clients. They often set regular check-ins and use collaborative tools to share updates and address concerns in real time. Building trust remotely requires being responsive, transparent, and attentive to client needs, ensuring that despite the distance, clients feel supported and valued. Many remote teams also use customer relationship management (CRM) software to track interactions and follow up on action items, helping maintain a personalized approach.

Job description

About the Company
ArcSite is the leading mobile sketching and drawing-based takeoff and estimating solution, trusted by designers, field sales teams, technicians, and inspectors. Our intuitive platform empowers users to create professional drawings on any device-without the steep learning curve of traditional CAD software-helping businesses save time, generate quotes faster, and close deals more efficiently.

We're a remote-first team with a strong sense of community, driven by growth, collaboration, and our core values: start with the customer, constantly improve, take risks, operate with transparency, and own it. At ArcSite, every team member has the opportunity to grow their career while making an impact, shaping the future of design, and living these values in everything we do.

About the Role

We are looking for an SMB Account Manager to join ArcSite in a high-impact role focused on expanding, protecting and nurturing our Small and Medium Business (SMB) customer base. In this role, you will own a dedicated book of business, growing relationships and driving expansion, retention and long-term success.

Your primary focus will be driving Net Revenue Retention (NRR) and expansion through proactive renewals, software tier upgrades, and ecosystem adoption. You will also serve as the first line of support for your book of business, ensuring timely resolution of product questions and issues. A strong understanding of the ArcSite platform and the ability to navigate both strategic conversations and day-to-day product needs will be essential. The ideal candidate is a proactive relationship builder with sharp commercial acumen who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves helping smaller businesses scale. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role with direct influence on customer growth and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own a portfolio of strategic accounts, driving retention, expansion, and long-term partnership growth
  • Proactively identify, negotiate, and close expansion opportunities.  You will take full responsibility for maintaining high Net Revenue Retention (NRR) which includes minimizing churn.
  • Provide hands-on product guidance and frontline issue resolution for your accounts, ensuring strong adoption and a high-quality customer experience.  You are the first line of support for your accounts.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and ownership groups, aligning solutions to business objectives.  Actively seek additional decision makers to ensure a strong depth of outreach opportunities.
  • Monitor account health metrics, including product usage, across your book of business, anticipating challenges, proactively mitigating cancellation risks, and resolving issues efficiently.
  • In addition to AM responsibilities, it may be necessary to assist with other CS functions including onboarding and support.
  • Identify and execute upsell and cross-sell opportunities while leading proactive, value-driven renewals.
  • Identify accounts on flexible terms and manage campaigns to successfully convert SMB clients from monthly subscription models into annual commitments.
  • Drive customer adoption of ArcSite's integrated solutions by securing client commitments to our payments and finance platforms and facilitating a smooth workflow handoff to the internal Finance Team.
  • Develop and execute structured account plans, monitor health and ROI, and lead business reviews that demonstrate measurable impact.
  • Anticipate challenges, resolve issues efficiently, and advocate for customer needs across internal teams.
  • Partner closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to share insights and influence go-to-market strategy.
  • Maintain impeccable data hygiene, deal ownership records, and forecasting pipelines within HubSpot, ensuring seamless alignment with real-time automated commission systems.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in account management, customer success, or inside sales, ideally managing a high volume of accounts within a SaaS or technology environment.
  • Quota-carrying experience with a proven track record of securing revenue through both strategic and reactive expansion revenue, preventing churn and managing a renewal pipeline.
  • Customer support experience is a plus.
  • Strong CRM proficiency (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar) with experience in forecasting and account planning
  • Ability to proactively research accounts, discovering scenarios where interaction is critical either for expansion, renewal, usage or satisfaction.
  • Executive presence and the ability to build credibility with C-level stakeholders
  • Commercial acumen with experience negotiating renewals, expansions, and multi-year agreements
  • Analytical skills to interpret usage and ROI data and translate insights into strategic recommendations
  • A consultative, customer-first mindset with resilience and ownership in ambiguous environments
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously, keeping a high volume of accounts engaged while maintaining fast response times and onboarding velocity.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills, specifically in handling tier-upgrade objections and converting short-term accounts into long-term annual commitments.
  • Brings genuine curiosity and problem-solving skills to every interaction, ensuring customer business outcomes tie directly back to deep product usage.
  • A background in construction tech, field services, or related trade industries is a major plus, but not required.
  • Candidate preferably is a resident of Denver, CO or Grand Rapids, MI.

Benefits

  • Unlimited PTO
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401K match
  • $75 monthly wellness stipend
