What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Relocation Nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Relocation Nanny, you need extensive childcare experience, flexibility with travel, and ideally qualifications in early childhood education or a recognized nanny certification. Familiarity with scheduling tools, communication apps, and a valid passport are typically required, along with first aid and CPR certification. Outstanding adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and strong organizational and communication skills set top candidates apart. Relocation Nannies often encounter challenges such as helping children adjust to new environments, managing cultural transitions, and maintaining routines amidst the unpredictability of moving. They must be adaptable and resourceful, as the role may require organizing activities in unfamiliar cities and liaising with local services or schools. Strong communication skills are crucial, as Relocation Nannies often coordinate closely with parents, moving coordinators, and sometimes language tutors to ensure a smooth transition for the family.

What is a relocation nanny?

A relocation nanny is a professional childcare provider who assists families during a move, often traveling with them to a new city or country. Their primary role is to ensure a smooth transition for the children, providing consistent care and helping them adjust to their new environment. Relocation nannies may also assist with packing, organizing, and settling into the new home, and sometimes stay with the family for a set period after the move to provide ongoing support. This specialized service is particularly valuable for families with young children or those moving internationally.

Job description

Overview
30A - ALYS BEACH, FL (NATIONWIDE SEARCH) - A warm, faith-centered family is relocating to the stunning new Alys Beach development on 30A and is seeking an exceptional FULL-TIME NANNY to grow with them in their next chapter. This is a beautiful opportunity for a grounded, joyful caregiver who thrives in a calm, structured home and shares a genuine love of the outdoors, intentional parenting, and meaningful connection with the children in their care.
The family has two girls: a spirited 5-year-old and a sweet infant who will be 10 to 11 months old at the time of start. The oldest will begin school after Labor Day, so the initial weeks of the role will involve caring for both girls together before settling into a routine centered primarily around the youngest. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 35 guaranteed hours per week, running approximately 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with some afternoon overlap between the girls built into the day.
Life on 30A is active, walkable, and full of possibility. The family spends time at the beach and pool, rides bikes, and embraces the outdoors as part of their everyday rhythm. The ideal candidate will match that energy with ease, someone who is physically active, genuinely enthusiastic about outdoor adventures, and able to keep up with two young children without missing a beat. Equally important is the ability to bring calm to the home. The family's current nanny has been a peaceful, steady presence, and they are looking for someone who embodies that same grounded quality: not easily flustered, emotionally regulated, and able to help the children co-regulate in return.
This family's parenting philosophy is thoughtful and intentional. They do not raise their voices, do not use time-outs, and prioritize connection before correction. They validate feelings, name emotions, follow natural consequences, and approach discipline with playfulness and warmth. A candidate who is familiar with these principles and can carry them consistently throughout the day will fit beautifully. A Montessori background or certification is a significant bonus and will absolutely elevate a candidate's profile with this family.
Faith is central to this household. The family is Christian and incorporates prayer and conversation about their faith naturally into daily life with their children. They are looking for a candidate who is genuinely comfortable in a faith-based home environment and can engage with that aspect of their family culture authentically and warmly.
In addition to primary childcare, the role includes light household support: helping keep the kitchen tidy, washing bottle parts, managing children's laundry, keeping toys organized, and light meal prep. The mom is detail-oriented and runs a structured home, and she is looking for a nanny who shares that sensibility and can be a true partner in maintaining the order and calm she has built. Infant experience and comfort with bottle feeding are essential.
The family travels and would love a nanny who is excited to join them. They spend approximately one month each summer in Aspen and would want their nanny along, and occasional overnight stays for parent getaways are also part of the role. A valid passport is preferred. The family has no pets and no vaccination requirements.
This position offers $30 per hour gross, depending on experience, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate, 10 PTO days, and 5 sick days. The target start date is mid to late July, with flexibility for the right person. The family is relocating to one of the most sought-after communities on the Gulf Coast and is ready to welcome someone who will feel at home right alongside them.
