- Create consistency in how accounting responsibilities are performed across regions while addressing unique regional and agency needs.
- Conduct regular Regional Controller meetings to review financial performance, accounting priorities, risks, deadlines, and operational issues.
- Build a collaborative regional accounting team that shares best practices, resources, and solutions across the organization.
- Assess regional accounting capabilities and recommend appropriate staffing, organizational structure, and resource allocation.
- Oversee regional accounting activities supporting accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Ensure Regional Controllers complete required reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, financial reviews, and supporting documentation in accordance with established deadlines.
- Review regional financial results for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and unusual trends or variances.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting to ensure regional results are properly consolidated into ALKEME’s enterprise financial statements.
- Establish standardized close procedures, calendars, reporting packages, and account reconciliation requirements across regions.
- Identify and resolve accounting issues that could impact the accuracy or timeliness of financial reporting.
- Ensure regional accounting activities comply with ALKEME accounting policies, internal controls, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting to develop, implement, and maintain standardized accounting policies and procedures.
- Strengthen internal controls and financial discipline across regional and agency operations.
- Identify accounting and financial control risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audit activities, including preparation of documentation and resolution of audit requests or findings.
- Ensure appropriate segregation of duties, approval authorities, documentation, and financial controls are maintained throughout regional operations.
- Serve as a senior financial partner to Regional Presidents and other regional leaders.
- Ensure Regional Controllers provide timely, accurate, and actionable financial information to regional and agency leadership.
- Partner with FP amp;A and regional leadership to analyze financial results, identify trends, investigate variances, and improve financial performance.
- Provide accounting insight related to revenue, commissions, compensation, operating expenses, acquisitions, and other significant financial matters.
- Support leaders in understanding financial results and the accounting implications of business decisions.
- Escalate significant financial, accounting, or control issues to Corporate Finance leadership as appropriate.
- Partner with M amp;A, Corporate Accounting, Finance, HR, Operations, and regional leadership to support the financial integration of newly acquired agencies.
- Establish consistent accounting processes and reporting expectations for acquired businesses.
- Coordinate the transition of agency accounting activities into ALKEME’s financial systems, policies, and reporting structure.
- Identify and resolve legacy accounting practices, balance sheet items, reconciliations, and financial reporting issues during integration.
- Support purchase accounting, opening balance sheet activities, working capital matters, and other acquisition-related accounting requirements as needed.
- Help create a scalable regional accounting integration model that supports ALKEME’s continued acquisition strategy.
- Identify opportunities to standardize, centralize, automate, or improve regional accounting processes.
- Develop consistent workflows, procedures, reporting standards, and documentation across the Regional Controller organization.
- Partner with Finance and technology teams to improve accounting systems, reporting capabilities, and data integrity.
- Reduce unnecessary manual processes and improve efficiency through technology and process redesign.
- Establish meaningful metrics to evaluate close performance, reconciliation quality, reporting accuracy, and overall accounting effectiveness.
- Support the continued evolution of ALKEME’s finance operating model as the organization grows.
- Recruit, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Regional Controllers.
- Establish individual goals and performance expectations aligned with Finance and organizational priorities.
- Conduct regular performance discussions and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Identify development opportunities and build succession plans for key regional accounting positions.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong business partnership throughout the team.
- Foster a culture focused on accuracy, responsiveness, operational excellence, and exceptional internal service.
