Refund Analyst

FLSA: Non-Exempt

About us

Physicians East, P.A.is a team of skilled healthcare professionals united to meet the challenge of delivering quality, cost-efficient, comprehensive healthcare to the people of Eastern North Carolina.

About the role

We are looking for an employee who can audit patient accounts for discrepancies and determine proper reimbursement of overpayments. Analyzing and processing refund request from insurance providers and follow up staff. Communicating effectively with insurance providers and follow up staff regarding refund issues.

Supervision Received: Reports to Insurance and Billing Supervisor

Supervision Exercised: None.

Typical Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping, or stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.

Typical Working Conditions:

Normal office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Print, Review, and Work Overpaid claim and unallocated money reports

  • Process refund requests according to refund protocol

  • Reprocessing returned refund including mail returns

  • Responsible for maintaining proper organization and storage of refund checks and packets

  • Responsible for credit transfers and escheats

  • Work as a contributing member of a team to keep departments running smoothly

  • Participate in in-service education, staff meetings and other continuing education programs to maintain optimal technical knowledge

  • Adhere to department and company policies, maintain confidentiality

  • Attend safety classes and compliance training as offered by Physicians East, P.A.

  • Assist with other duties or projects as needed.

Location & commitments

Full-time role based at our Greenville Arlington Blvd. location, Monday-Friday, 8a.m. – 5 p.m.

Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner.

Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.

Candidate requirements

Minimum of 1-3 years experience in Insurance and Billing settings and/or appropriate college education required.
