What is the difference between Recruiting Professional vs Human Resources Specialist?

AspectRecruiting ProfessionalHuman Resources Specialist
CredentialsTypically requires recruiting certifications or related HR trainingRequires HR certifications, such as PHR or SHRM-CP
Work EnvironmentFocuses on sourcing, interviewing, and hiring candidatesHandles employee relations, benefits, compliance, and recruitment
Employer & Industry UsageCommon in staffing agencies and corporate HR departmentsUsed across various industries for HR functions including recruitment
Search & Comparison IntentOften compared for recruitment roles and hiring processesCompared for broader HR responsibilities including recruitment

While both roles involve hiring, a Recruiting Professional primarily focuses on sourcing and hiring candidates, whereas a Human Resources Specialist handles a wider range of HR functions including employee relations and benefits. The roles often overlap but serve different core purposes within organizations.

How do you become a recruiting professional?

To become a recruiting professional, individuals typically pursue a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related fields and develop skills in communication, assessment, and negotiation. Gaining experience through internships or entry-level HR roles and obtaining certifications like the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) can enhance prospects in the field.

What is a recruiting professional?

Recruiting professionals are specialists responsible for finding, attracting, and hiring qualified candidates to fill job openings within an organization. They manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including advertising job postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and coordinating job offers. Recruiting professionals may work in-house for a company or as part of an agency, and they often collaborate closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs. Their goal is to ensure the organization attracts top talent efficiently and effectively.

What are the most common challenges recruiting professionals face when sourcing candidates, and how can they overcome them?

Recruiting Professionals often encounter challenges such as finding qualified candidates in a competitive market, managing high volumes of applications, and ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process. To overcome these hurdles, recruiters can leverage advanced sourcing tools, build strong professional networks, and prioritize clear communication with candidates. Staying up-to-date with industry trends and continuously refining sourcing strategies also helps recruiters stay ahead in attracting top talent.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a recruiting professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Recruiting Professional, you need expertise in talent sourcing, candidate assessment, and a solid understanding of employment laws, often supported by a degree in human resources or related fields. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, and professional certifications like SHRM-CP or PHR is highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills help recruiters connect with both candidates and hiring managers. These skills ensure effective talent acquisition, a positive candidate experience, and the ability to meet organizational hiring goals.

Job description

Description:

The Opportunity

EST03 Inc. is seeking a recruiter to support high-activity, full-cycle recruiting across the organization. In this role, you will build strong sourcing, screening, candidate evaluation, and hiring manager partnership skills while supporting hiring needs across EST03 and its subsidiaries. You will help move candidates through the hiring process with urgency and professionalism while managing recruiting activity, interview coordination, and ATS workflows. This is not a passive recruiting role. Success requires proactive sourcing, strong follow-up, organization, and the ability to manage multiple open roles without losing momentum.

Who We Are

EST03 Inc., established in Cincinnati in 2003, is the parent company of Advertising Vehicles, Adsposure, and STICK. Together, our companies help brands stands take their messages to the streets through fleet graphics, transit advertising, and professional installation services.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated recruiting professional who wants to help us find, attract, and retain the right talent while growing their own career alongside EST03.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re not for everyone — and that’s intentional.

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Take ownership and follow through
  • Want to win and expect results from your effort
  • Prefer accountability over comfort
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, in-office, team environment
  • See challenges as problems to solve
  • Are energized by high activity, urgency, and measurable recruiting outcomes

Why Join EST03?

  • Build a long-term career in Talent Acquisition with opportunities to grow into broader recruiting, talent strategy, and People & Culture responsibilities.
  • Join a growing organization where you can improve recruiting processes, strengthen hiring partnerships, and influence how talent is attracted and selected.
  • Receive competitive compensation, quarterly and annual bonus potential, comprehensive benefits, 401(k) with company match, PTO, paid holidays, and paid volunteer time.

What You’ll Do

Recruiting Strategy, Execution & Partnership
  • Own full-cycle recruiting for assigned exempt and non-exempt roles across EST03 and its subsidiaries, moving qualified candidates from intake through accepted offer with urgency.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, ideal candidate profiles, hiring priorities, and effective recruiting strategies.
  • Conduct thorough candidate screens, evaluate experience, motivation, communication, performance history, and values alignment, and provide clear recommendations to hiring managers.
  • Maintain consistent communication with candidates and hiring teams while driving timely feedback, decisions, and next steps.
  • Quickly identify recruiting challenges, recommend practical solutions, and balance hiring speed with candidate quality and long-term fit.
Sourcing, Pipeline Development & Process Improvement
  • Proactively hunt for active and passive candidates through LinkedIn, Indeed, job boards, referrals, networking, direct outreach, and other creative sourcing channels.
  • Build and maintain strong pipelines for recurring, high-priority, and difficult-to-fill roles, particularly within sales, operations, administrative, leadership, and early-career functions.
  • Track sourcing effectiveness and pipeline health, adjusting outreach strategies when results are not meeting hiring needs.
  • Manage ATS workflows, job postings, candidate records, recruiting metrics, and reporting with accuracy and consistency.
  • Take ownership of improving recruiting processes, interview tools, job descriptions, sourcing practices, and the overall candidate and hiring-manager experience.
Requirements:

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years of recruiting, staffing, talent acquisition, or related experience.
  • Proven success managing multiple searches, proactively sourcing candidates, and building qualified pipelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong candidate screening, evaluation, communication, and hiring-manager partnership skills.
  • Demonstrated ownership, urgency, problem-solving, organization, and follow-through.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience recruiting revenue-producing sales professionals.
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience across a variety of exempt and non-exempt roles.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems, recruiting metrics, process improvement, and compliant hiring practices.

If you are a driven recruiting professional who takes ownership, enjoys the hunt for exceptional candidates, and knows how to turn urgent hiring needs into focused recruiting strategies, we want to hear from you.

Apply today to join EST03 and help shape the future of our recruiting function while building the next stage of your career.
