Position Summary

The Assistant Recruiter is a non-exempt professional responsible for supporting Boudreau Pipeline Corporation's Talent Acquisition function and workforce planning activities. This role assists with recruiting operations, candidate experience, interview coordination, onboarding activities, and administrative processes that support hiring efforts across the organization.

The Assistant Recruiter partners closely with hiring managers, candidates, payroll, safety, and HR team members to ensure recruitment and onboarding activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. This position plays a key role in maintaining a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment lifecycle, from application through Day One onboarding.

The Assistant Recruiter serves as a support resource for talent acquisition efforts across corporate, field, and operational positions. During periods of lower hiring volume, the role provides assistance with broader HR initiatives, employee programs, and administrative projects.


Essential Job FunctionsTalent Acquisition & Recruitment Support
  • Assist with the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interview scheduling, and applicant communications.
  • Support recruiters and hiring managers throughout the hiring process from requisition approval through candidate selection.
  • Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring teams, ensuring a professional and positive candidate experience.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Conduct initial candidate screenings and assist with resume reviews as directed.
  • Assist with candidate outreach, sourcing efforts, and talent pipeline development.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug testing, reference checks, and documentation collection.
  • Prepare offer letters and hiring documents for review and approval.
  • Support onboarding activities from pre-hire through Day One, ensuring completion of required paperwork and new hire readiness tasks.
  • Partner with payroll, safety, IT, and department leaders to facilitate a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Monitor recruitment activity and assist in tracking hiring metrics, including time-to-fill, candidate pipeline activity, and source effectiveness.
  • Ensure recruiting activities are conducted in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Assist with recruiting process improvements and administrative support related to hiring vendors, systems, and tools.
HR General Support & HR Projects
  • Provide administrative support for HR initiatives, including onboarding programs, employee engagement activities, training coordination, and compliance projects.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment-related processes.
  • Assist with HRIS and ATS data entry, audits, reporting, and record maintenance.
  • Support employee relations matters by gathering information, maintaining documentation, and escalating concerns to appropriate HR personnel.
  • Participate in HR process improvement projects and departmental initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects and additional HR responsibilities as assigned.

QualificationsEducation
  • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree is a plus.
Experience
  • 1-3 years of recruiting, talent acquisition, HR coordination, or administrative support experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting hiring processes, scheduling interviews, or onboarding activities preferred.
  • Construction industry experience is a plus, particularly supporting field, skilled trades, or project-based recruiting.
  • Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office, and recruiting tools preferred.
  • Basic understanding of employment laws and HR best practices, particularly in California.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid California Driver License.

Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentPhysical Requirements

This position is primarily sedentary to light work in nature. The employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods, use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and office equipment, and occasionally stand, walk, bend, or reach. The employee may occasionally lift or move office materials such as files, binders, laptops, or boxes of supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in a professional office environment, with occasional visits to field or construction sites as required. The noise level in the office is usually moderate. The employee may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction noise when visiting job sites. All work must be performed in compliance with Cal/OSHA safety and ergonomic standards, and employees are expected to use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering field areas.
