Summary of Position
The City of Marshall is currently accepting applications for temporary and seasonal positions. A hiring list will be created to ensure we have candidates ready to be hired when we are able to fill positions.
The City of Marshall Community Services Division accepts applications on a year-round basis for a variety of spring/summer/fall/winter temporary and seasonal positions. Some of these positions offer intermittent and/or part-time hours, and some offer up to 40 hours per week on a seasonal basis.
Applications will remain on file for one-year from receipt. You must reapply to be considered the following season.

Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST)
Temporary and seasonal employees are eligible for Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) as required by MN Statutes 181.9447, subdivision 9. Temporary and seasonal employees will accrue ESST at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum accrual of 48 hours per calendar year. Employees must work at least 80 hours in a calendar year to be eligible for earned sick and safe paid leave time.
Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML)
  • PFML is a public insurance program administered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development ("DEED") ("state-administered program"), providing eligible employees with paid leave for family and medical reasons beginning January 1, 2026. Most workers in Minnesota will be covered by PFML benefits. Employees will generally be covered by PFML benefits if they have been paid at least $3,900 from an employer for work performed in Minnesota in 2025.
  • The PFML plan is funded by premium contributions payable to City of Marshall's designated PFML insurance carrier, MetLife, and split between employers and employees pursuant to Minn. Stat. sec. 268B.14, subd. 3. Employers pay a portion of the premium contribution, while employees pay the remaining portion of the contribution through a payroll deduction, up to 0.395% of employee wages.
  • Employees will be provided the complete PFML policy at time of orientation which explains how PFML can be used.
