We are seeking a customer-focused RF Applications Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across multiple disciplines, and helping customers bring products to market. In this role, you'll serve as the technical bridge between customers and internal teams, designing customized solutions based on Samtec's extensive product portfolio and ensuring customer requirements are transformed into manufacturable products.

Position Summary

As an RF Applications Engineer, you will work directly with customers to understand their application needs and develop customized interconnect solutions using Samtec products. You'll collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Manufacturing teams to guide projects from concept through production release.

What You’ll Do Customer-Facing Technical Leadership
  • Partner directly with customers to understand technical requirements, design challenges, and application needs.
  • Recommend innovative product solutions that align with customer objectives and industry best practices.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the design and implementation process.
  • Provide timely responses to customer inquiries and technical support requests.
Product Customization & Design Support
  • Modify and adapt standard Samtec products to meet unique customer requirements.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and statements of work to ensure technical feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Define custom product concepts and collaborate with engineering teams to develop optimal solutions.
  • Assign and maintain custom part numbers and associated documentation.
Project & Product Management
  • Lead customer-driven product customization projects from concept and quotation through product release and production.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts between Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Quality, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Generate product cost estimates and supporting documentation for quotation activities.
  • Initiate and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) as needed.
Market & Business Support
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to identify emerging customer needs, market trends, and new product opportunities.
  • Provide regular updates regarding customer projects, design activities, and business opportunities.
  • Support customer visits, industry events, trade shows, and technical presentations as required.
What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent technical experience will also be considered.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Applications Engineering, Technical Sales, Sales Engineering, Product Engineering, or a related customer-facing technical role.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience managing projects through multiple stages of development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the connector, interconnect, electronics, or manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of electromechanical components or electronic hardware solutions.
  • Experience supporting customized or configured product solutions.
  • Background working with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Understanding of product lifecycle management and engineering change processes.
