What is the difference between Quality Improvement vs Quality Assurance?
| Aspect | Quality Improvement | Quality Assurance |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Continuous process enhancement and reducing variability | Ensuring products/services meet quality standards |
| Activities | Data analysis, process redesign, staff training | Audits, inspections, compliance checks |
| Credentials | Often requires knowledge of quality tools (e.g., Six Sigma) | Certifications like QA/QC certifications |
| Work Environment | Healthcare, manufacturing, service industries | Manufacturing, healthcare, software development |
While both roles aim to improve quality, Quality Improvement focuses on ongoing process enhancements, whereas Quality Assurance emphasizes maintaining standards through inspections and compliance. Understanding these differences helps organizations implement effective quality strategies.
