Position Summary
This role serves as both a technical subject matter expert and program leader, responsible for designing, proposing, developing, and qualifying filtration and flow products for Aerospace & Defense applications. The Senior Project Engineer partners closely with Business Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to convert customer requirements into executable programs, ensuring successful delivery from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Customer Engagement
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Aerospace & Defense development programs
  • Act as the primary technical interface to customers, supporting pre-sales discussions and solution development
  • Translate complex customer requirements into engineered product solutions
  • Present proposals and technical concepts to internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Support pursuit and capture of new business opportunities from initial engagement through contract award
  • Review and interpret RFPs, technical specifications, and qualification requirements
  • Develop accurate, competitive proposals aligned with technical and commercial objectives
  • Drive improvements in proposal accuracy, speed, and effectiveness

Program & Project Management
  • Lead new product development programs from design through qualification and production transfer
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and deliverables
  • Ensure robust documentation, quality compliance, and milestone adherence throughout program lifecycle
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams in a matrix environment to deliver program objectives

Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to improve proposal processes, product designs, and development cycles
  • Support adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive processes
  • Act as a customer advocate to drive innovation and value creation within product offerings

Major Challenges
  • Managing complex and lengthy RFPs with detailed technical and compliance requirements
  • Navigating varying qualification standards across Aerospace & Defense customers
  • Coordinating cross-functional teams to meet aggressive timelines and deliverables

  • Support approximately 10 active RFPs and strategic programs simultaneously
  • Drive qualification of 10+ new Aerospace & Defense programs annually
  • Deliver $5M-$10M in project value annually
  • Achieve proposal turnaround time of <2 weeks and qualification timelines of <24 weeks
  • Maintain โ‰ฅ95% on-time delivery with zero RMAs or qualification failures

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering
  • 7+ years of Aerospace & Defense or related industry experience
  • Proven experience managing complex technical proposals and project teams
  • Strong understanding of Aerospace & Defense qualification processes
  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams
  • Project management training or certification preferred
  • Security clearance (or ability to obtain) is a plus

Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Deep understanding of filtration technologies and flow control systems
  • Expertise in design for manufacturability (DFM), GD&T, and engineering drawing standards
  • Knowledge of materials processing including sintering, welding, and compaction
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply industry standards, specifications, and quality requirements
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and commercial audiences

The compensation range for this position is $112,700.00 - $169,100.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
