Job description

Weston & Sampson is currently seeking a Project Engineer out of any of our New England office locations with 6 to 12 years of experience with roadway/highway design work. With the influx of infrastructure funding, Weston & Sampson is continually looking to expand our transportation practice with highly talented and passionate professionals.


You will be part of a team of nearly a dozen engineers who focus on roadway and highway design, traffic engineering and transportation planning, and stormwater, hydraulics and permitting. You will work closely with Project Managers and Team Leaders who will mentor you and guide you to success with your career at Weston & Sampson.


What you’ll do:

  • Opportunity with a variety of projects including roadway design along municipal and state highways, intersection improvements such as roundabouts and signalized intersections, streetscape, multi-use pathways, ADA enhancements, bridge projects, and drainage improvement projects
  • Be flexible in terms of handling multiple and wide range of assignments
  • Responsible for carrying out all design tasks of a project including roadway geometry and plans, estimates, technical specifications, and reports while adhering to the project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Direct contact with Clients, supporting the Project Manager with response to correspondence and meeting preparation, attendance, and presentations
  • Opportunity to present at public information meetings and municipal meetings (i.e. inland wetlands)
  • Mentor and assist staff engineers
  • Active involvement with professional organizations such as CSCE, ACEC, ITE, WTS, etc. is encouraged to enhance relationships with peers. 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Master of Science in Civil or Transportation Engineering a plus
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in either MA, NH, CT (or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months)
  • NCEES Record a plus
  • Proficiency in Autocad Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads is required; experience in both is a plus
  • Experience with HydroCAD or StormCAD a plus
  • Established relationships with CTDOT and CT Municipalities a plus
  • Experience in the use of the relevant CTDOT Design Manuals and AASHTO Green Book
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and organization and time management skills required
  • Valid driver’s license

Pay Range: $115,000.00 - $145,000.00 depending on experience
