Job description

Job Description Only applicants who meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements and meet the *selective requirements (listed below) will be placed on the eligible list. The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Public Health, Bureau of Environmental and Local Public Health is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant 3 to join our team. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of Iowa's statewide Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Surveillance System.

Working closely with the Environmental Health Section Supervisor and program partners, this position analyzes data, supports statewide users, resolves system issues, and helps maintain compliance with reporting standards and public health requirements. Primary Responsibilities: Data Quality and System Integrity- Analyze incoming laboratory and provider data for inconsistencies, errors, and missing information. Review policies related to blood lead testing procedures and electronic lab reporting (ELR); provide recommendations to the Environmental Health Section Supervisor.

Coordinate with Information Management to monitor and resolve ELR and HHLPSS database issues. Investigate problem areas, assist with resolving data processing concerns, and make needed database updates. Maintain HHLPSS data integrity through communication with providers, laboratories, and local public health contractors to address data accuracy issues.

Provide data extracts to CDC as required. User Support and Technical Assistance- Serve as the primary point of contact for statewide HHLPSS database users, providing technical support and troubleshooting system issues. Process access requests, maintain documentation, and update user management records.

Create, update, and maintain technical reference materials and user instructions. Provide administrative and technical assistance to State-owned Lead Care II users. Offer consultation and support to local childhood lead poisoning prevention programs (CLPPPs) to enhance understanding and use of HHLPSS.

Ensure local program coordinators are informed of high blood lead level results under their jurisdiction and verify follow-up actions. Program Operations and Communication- Review and manage program alerts, incoming faxes, and calls to the Childhood Lead Program's 800 number. Mail educational materials to families with elevated blood lead results.

Support regular review and refinement of program policies, regulations, educational resources, website content, and procedures for onboarding new reporting locations. Assist with reorganizing local CLPPPs when needed. Prepare technical reports and present recommendations to the Environmental Health Section Supervisor regarding HHLPSS operations and data-related program decisions.

Selectives Data Entry 6 months' experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in the process of entering data into a computerized spreadsheet or database. *Please list examples of this work in the job duties. Minimum Qualification Requirements Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: Two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.

A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.
