The Opportunity:
West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Program Director of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. This position is a full-time, 12-month tenure track faculty position with administrative responsibilities and reports to the Dean of the College of Sciences. The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the West Liberty University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by West Liberty University with an approximate date for the next validation review
in March 2035.
Essential Functions of the position:
The program director is responsible for providing effective leadership and management to the Physician Assistant Studies Program at West Liberty University. The responsibilities of the Program Director include the supervision of the medical director, principal and instructional faculty, and staff working within the PA program, program organization, program administration, fiscal management of the program, effective communication, continuous programmatic review and analysis, completion of ARC-PA required documents, and adherence to the Standards and ARC-PA policies (ARC- PA Standards, 6th
Edition A2.09, A2.10). In addition, the program director represents the program and the PA profession at
institutional and extra-institutional functions and activities.
The PA Program Director will oversee the administration of departmental assessments and reports; work with PA faculty and staff, Graduate Studies, and Admissions staff to recruit students into the program and to coordinate the admissions process; evaluate, develop, and implement curriculum according to ARC-PA standards and participate in the graduate Curriculum Committee; conduct program evaluations and submit annual evaluation reports to the Provost/VP Academic Affairs Office; supervise the Academic and Clinical Coordinators, as well as the PA Administrative
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Three years of full-time higher education experience in a PA program.
  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program.
  • Master's degree minimum.
  • Current or emeritus NCCPA certification required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of West Virginia.
  • Knowledge of the physician assistant accreditation process.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate Degree in related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in PA program administration and the ARC-PA accreditation process
  • Previous experience in curriculum development and program assessment
  • Five years of clinical experience as a practicing PA.
