Job description

Product Development Specialist - Secaucus, NJ

Position Overview:

We are seeking a hard-working creative problem solver to join Brilliant Earth's Product Development team. As a Product Development Specialist, you'll be at the center of how Brilliant Earth's jewelry comes to life: managing samples, coordinating with vendors, and keeping the development process accurate and moving in a fast-paced environment. You'll build strong day-to-day relationships with our manufacturing partners while helping the team make smart, resourceful decisions with the resources at hand. We have a social and environmental mission at the core of our company, and we're looking for someone who's just as energized by our social goals as our business ones. It's all in the details, and you'll help make sure every Brilliant Earth purchase meets our standard for quality and craftsmanship.

The targeted budget for this position is $55k-70k This compensation budget range may be adjusted at any time at the discretion of the company.

Key responsibilities include:

Vendor & Sample Management

  • Manage sample inventory end-to-end; tracking, organizing, photographing, and performing quality assurance
  • Partner directly with vendors to produce samples and live orders, communicating clearly to maintain accuracy and efficiency
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships, including leading weekly meetings to track deliverables
  • Manage style allocation across the catalogue with partners, upholding manufacturing standards and best practices

Quality & Process Improvements

  • Support quality improvement initiatives, including chain testing and quality metrics tracking
  • Contribute cross-functionally to supply planning and inventory control
  • Identify and implement improvements to systems, policies, and procedures that support Brilliant Earth's quality, delivery, and cost objectives
  • Support the identification of potential packaging needs for new products
  • Leverage AI tools to streamline sample tracking, vendor communication, and quality reporting

You're a great fit if you have:

  • BA degree or equivalent preferred
  • Experience with vendor management required (2+ years preferred)
  • Experience in the jewelry industry and/or product development is preferred
  • Experience performing quality assurance testing and photographing physical samples is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including external vendors and partners
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and knowledge of ERP/inventory systems (NetSuite a plus)
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot) to streamline your work, and an appetite for finding new ways to apply them.
  • Interest in socially and environmentally responsible organizations and products
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to think critically and adapt quickly, with a high sense of urgency, in a flexible environment
  • Team player with an ability to work collaboratively
