GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Cross Functional Associate is responsible for providing support to the operating rooms and/or sterile processing by performing a variety of tasks. This role contributes to the efficient flow of operations by assisting with instrument processing, room turnover, supply management, and other essential functions, all while adhering to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the Operating Room (OR) and Sterile Processing Department (SPD) by assisting with room turnover, waste disposal, daily and terminal cleaning procedures, and general organization, adhering to established protocols. (20%)

  • Completes assigned tasks in SPD under direct supervision. (20%)

  • Anticipates equipment needs based on scheduled cases and transports equipment to and from the OR as needed. (10%)

  • Maintains adequate supply levels by restocking designated areas, ordering department supplies, and ensuring proper room setup for upcoming cases, while also responding to patient emergencies and assisting medical staff as needed. (10%)

  • Under the direction of medical staff, assists with patient positioning, identification, and safe transport to and from the operating room, including assisting with transfers and providing post-mortem care and transport to the morgue. (10%)

  • Follows all safety protocols and uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. (10%)

  • Transports specimens to the lab. Follows appropriate patient identification protocols.(10%)

  • Obtains and returns blood and blood products from Blood Bank following established procedures. (10%)

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Internet email software, McKesson PHS

Skills:

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
