Job description

Pemko Assa Abloy is looking for a manufacturing process improvement engineer. This position will be responsible for process improvements by applying Lean principles, thinking and methodologies for high volume operations. The utilization of lean tools such as Value Stream Maps as well as analyzing existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to reduce waste and improve quality.

Responsibilities for manufacturing engineer:

  •  Responsible for driving projects throughout value stream to achieve or exceed budgeted goals
  • Analyze data, develop models, work with teams, and observe the manufacturing process to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and other areas for improvement.
  • Writes procedures, investigate, establish protocols, reports change controls to support client programs
  • Requires working knowledge of engineering principles and practices that can be applied to a broad variety of assignments in related fields, the ability to develop and apply creative technical solutions to complex problems, and work with manufacturing automation engineer, product engineering, production, and quality assurance staff to develop requirements and recommendations for large and somewhat complex processes and systems
  • Plan, conduct, or coordinate relatively straight-forward engineering analyses & tests
  • Provide day-to-day production support where needed
  • Create modify and manage bills of materials
  • Provide technical leadership and ownership of assigned unit operations
  • Manage change control for assigned projects
  • Identify and initiate process improvements in conjunction with the Product Engineering team
  • Work with production, automation and project engineering groups on process improvement projects

Responsibilities for manufacturing process engineer:

  • Good interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills, with ability to make and implement decisions
  • Evaluate and analyze current processes to identify inefficiencies associated with manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement new processes and systems to enhance productivity.
  • Testing and monitoring equipment, updating current system processes and conducting risk assessments.
  • Motivated to work on own initiative with results-oriented attitude
  • Knowledge of CNC controlled equipment and machine code/programming whilst not essential would be an advantage along with strong equipment fault-finding, PLC troubleshooting capability
  • SolidWorks /AutoCAD experience whilst not essential would be an advantage
  • Develop and submit justification for capital equipment projects to support areas within manufacturing related to above-mentioned products and processes
  • Demonstrated exposure to and application of a variety of lean and Six Sigma tools (value stream mapping, 5S, flow, pull)
  • BS in science/engineering required

Qualifications / Experience:

  • BS in science/engineering required
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing or process improvement roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Employment is contingent upon the applicant's ability to legally work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.
