10 hour shifts, four days a week on either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift:
1st shift - 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
2nd shift - 4:00 pm to 2:00 am
3rd shift - 10:00 pm to 8:00 am
Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, Holidays, and mandatory Overtime.
Job Summary
UK HealthCare Police Sergeants are responsible for providing the UK HealthCare community with a safe and secure environment in which to work, live and learn. This position will serve primarily at Chandler Hospital.
The major job responsibilities of the UK HealthCare Police Sergeant include:
  • supervision and management
  • patrol and investigations
  • public relations and service
  • professional development and training

Specific duties include:
  • providing supervision to the UKPD HealthCare operations
  • reviewing and approving reports
  • developing Officers
  • patrolling on foot, bike, and mobile patrol
  • enforcing the law
  • investigating crimes
  • building community relations
  • preparing and presenting testimony in court
  • providing security and traffic control for special University events
  • completing University and law enforcement related reports

Police Sergeants must be able to work overtime especially in high volume seasons (university move in, football, basketball, etc.), change shifts, work special duty events, and attend meetings.
Police Sergeants shall positively interact, enhance relations, and represent the University with local law enforcement and community partners.
