Job description

Job Summary:

The Plant Controller will oversee and direct all accounting activities, including but not limited to: establishing and documenting best practices for accounting processes, managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and collections, overseeing the procure-to-pay and order-to-cash cycles, reconciling bank accounts, preparing financial reports, conducting month-end closings, performing financial analysis, and managing budgeting efforts. This role is critical in building and maintaining a strong financial team that consistently adheres to established accounting standards and guidelines, ensuring timely and accurate financial operations.

II. Accountabilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations and provide leadership to the accounting staff
  • Prepare accurate financial reports and statements in compliance with GAAP standards
  • Analyze production costs, material consumption, and inventory levels while providing KPI's to leadership
  • Supervise the accounts receivable team to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks such as billing, cash receipts, and collections
  • Analyze purchase orders to verify proper pricing and ensure alignment with actual cost workflows
  • Establish, implement, and enforce proper accounting methods, principles, and company policies
  • Monitor and manage inventory controls, reconciling company-owned and customer-owned inventory
  • Manage daily cash flow and provide regular updates on the company's cash position
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive month-end closing checklist to ensure timely and accurate closures
  • Perform adjustments to the general ledger and sub-ledgers as necessary.
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts and corporate credit card accounts with accuracy and timeliness
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain thorough documentation to support balance sheet accounts
  • Conduct monthly analyses of expense variances, as well as actual-to-budget discrepancies
  • Analyze revenue and costs for various decorating methods, products, and programs
  • Maintain and track fixed assets, including calculating and recording depreciation.
  • Support the VP of Finance in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Work closelywith ASB Finance team in preparation of internal/external financial, sales tax, and other audits
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead accounting-related company initiatives through effective project management
  • Make timely decisions and troubleshoot financial bottlenecks to maintain operational efficiency
  • Provide actionable recommendations to Leadership for process improvements and strategic initiatives
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the ASB financial team
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP of Finance, CEO or GM

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Accounting (AAS or BS)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in roles such as Staff Accountant or higher
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with reporting in a SQL database environment
  • Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and understand the business at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly
  • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently
  • Consistently follows through on projects and assignments, ensuring timely completion and quality results
