Confidential – Plant Controller (Manufacturing)


About the Opportunity

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a highly experienced Plant Controller to provide financial leadership across two production facilities in California. This position is a key strategic partner to plant leadership and will drive financial insight, operational performance, and profitability improvement.

This role oversees all site-level financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, costing, inventory controls, and month-end close, while strengthening processes and ensuring GAAP compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner to plant leadership, providing actionable financial analysis and recommendations
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Own product costing, standard cost systems, and manufacturing variance analysis
  • Manage month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
  • Partner closely with operations on cost control, productivity, and capital investment initiatives
  • Maintain strong inventory controls, including cycle counts and physical inventory processes
  • Develop and analyze financial models, KPIs, and performance dashboards
  • Support tax filings and external audit coordination
  • Identify and implement process improvements and internal control enhancements
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the plant finance team


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience (manufacturing strongly preferred)
  • Prior Plant Controller, Controller, or similar leadership experience required
  • Strong background in cost accounting, inventory, and manufacturing variance analysis
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills


Preferred

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Experience in multi-site manufacturing environments


Compensation

$140,000 – $165,000 annually
