CLA is looking for a Controller with experience in State & Local Government Industry to join our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) group. Our CAAS - State & Local Government team provides accounting, finance and treasury services to local towns, cities and school districts.

As a Controller you will:

  • Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.

  • Take on the role of consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.

  • Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.

  • Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.

  • Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.

  • Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and trainings.

  • Maintain knowledge of the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience: 7 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required. Relevant experience in State & Local Government, is highly preferred.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field). A combination of education, training and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

  • Certifications/Licenses: CPA is preferred but not required.

  • Technical Competencies: Maintains knowledge of client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of accounting software packages. Maintains accounting technical knowledge related to the industry.

  • Travel:This position reflects our commitment for both flexibility and collaboration. This role offers a hybrid and flexible working environment, which means you may be required to work at client locations or in the office depending on project needs. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with other CLA family members, encouraging a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $98,000.00 - $168,000.00
