Job description

As a global leader in Stainless Steel, we're seeking a Senior Investment and Cost Controller to be part of our  team in Haverhill, MA.

Objective: Serves as the Investment and Cost Controller for Evo Materials CAPEX projects, responsible for overseeing investment performance, managing cost controls, and ensuring financial efficiency across projects and operations. This role supports strategic decision-making by providing accurate financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost monitoring to maximize returns and control expenditures.

The Americas is headquartered in Calvert, Mobile County, Alabama; home to one of the most technically advanced integrated stainless-steel mill in the United States. The Americas' footprint also expands to San Luis Potosi, Mexico, which is the only stainless steel cold rolling mill plus service center in the country. Additionally, Outokumpu business area Americas has a commercial office in Brazil.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, management, or finance required
  • Proven 3+ years relevant experience including financial planning
  • Experience with SAP and OneStream and other accounting software / tools
  • Experience with capital expenditures and capital budgeting, capitalization and financing decisions
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
  • GAAP and IFRS knowledge preferred

Competencies and skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, draw sound conclusions, and make well-reasoned recommendations with minimal oversight
  • Comfortable making independent judgment calls on cost and investment matters, escalating appropriately when needed
  • High attention to detail and accuracyAdvanced proficiency in Excel (complex modeling, financial simulations) and Power BI (dashboard design, data visualization) and other financial software/ERP systems
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills 

Responsibilities:

Investment Management

  • Monitor and analyze investment performance versus budgets, forecasts, & targets
  • Prepare financial models and investment appraisals (e.g., ROI, NPV, IRR)
  • Support investment decision-making with data-driven insights and risk analysis
  • Track capital expenditures and ensure alignment with approved investment plans

Cost Control & Budgeting

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain budgets for cost centers and investments
  • Analyze cost variances and identify opportunities for cost optimization
  • Implement and maintain cost control systems and procedures

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare regular management reports on costs and investments
  • Provide detailed variance analysis and actionable recommendations
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulations
  • Support internal and external audits related to investments and cost management
  • Maintain documentation for investment approvals and cost control processes

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with procurement, accounting, project and senior management
  • Provide financial guidance to support operational and strategic initiatives

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Accuracy of budgets and forecasts
  • Cost savings and efficiency improvements
  • Timeliness and quality of financial reports
  • Investment performance versus targets

Salary range:  $105-300-144,800
