This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career with an established and growing company where your ideas matter, your leadership is valued, and your contributions directly influence the future success of the organization.

About Visions, Inc.

Visions, Inc. is one of the Upper Midwest's premier providers of:

For decades, our customers have trusted us to solve complex communication and production challenges. But what truly sets Visions apart isn't simply what we produce...

It's how we serve.

Our mission is simple: To make a difference in people's lives and businesses.

  • Every project is an opportunity to build trust.
  • Every interaction is an opportunity to exceed expectations.
  • Every employee plays an important role in creating an exceptional customer experience.

We believe great companies are built by people who genuinely care about one another, work together, embrace challenges, pursue excellence, and continually look for better ways to serve customers.

Why This Opportunity Is Different:

This isn't a traditional Controller position focused solely on accounting. This is an opportunity to become an influential business leader.

You'll work closely with executive leadership while helping guide the financial direction of a growing organization. You'll partner with leaders throughout Sales, Operations, Customer Experience, Production, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Human Resources to improve profitability while helping deliver an exceptional customer experience.

If you enjoy building systems, improving processes, leading people, solving problems, and making organizations stronger, you'll feel right at home.

What You'll Do:

As Controller, you'll lead the daily financial operations of the company while ensuring accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement across our finance organization. Your responsibilities will include:

Financial Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the Accounting Assistant, Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist, and Staff Accountant/Payroll Administrator.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.
  • Establish departmental goals, priorities, and measurable performance standards.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee all accounting operations including:

  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Collections
  • Expense Reporting
  • Sales Tax Compliance
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger analysis.

Strategic Financial Planning:

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Provide meaningful financial analysis that supports business growth.
  • Monitor profitability and identify opportunities to improve operational performance.
  • Assist executive leadership with financial modeling and strategic planning.
  • Manage cash flow and optimize the timing of vendor payments.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee inventory accounting and month-end inventory reconciliation.
  • Manage pricing methodologies and job costing systems.
  • Evaluate financial systems and recommend process improvements.
  • Improve workflows that increase efficiency, responsiveness, and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls.

Compliance & Quality:

  • Coordinate external financial audits.
  • Conduct internal audits supporting our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and SOC 2 compliance requirements.
  • Ensure financial policies and procedures remain current and effective.
  • Help maintain the integrity and security of company financial information.

Human Resources Support:

  • Partner with executive leadership and our HR consulting team on selected HR initiatives.
  • Oversee payroll and commission administration.
  • Support employee development and organizational growth initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You're someone who enjoys being challenged.
  • You naturally look for ways to improve systems, simplify processes, eliminate waste, and make organizations stronger.
  • You don't simply report financial information...
  • You interpret it.
  • You ask questions.
  • You identify opportunities.
  • You help leadership make better decisions.
  • You enjoy working with people as much as working with numbers and understand that exceptional businesses are built through collaboration across every department.
  • You're confident enough to lead, humble enough to listen, and motivated by helping others succeed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Manufacturing accounting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Experience supervising and developing employees

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience working within ERP systems

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Preferred Experience:

  • Job costing and pricing systems
  • Inventory accounting
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Continuous process improvement
  • ERP implementation or optimization
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
