THE ROLE
As our new Assistant Controller, you will be a leader in our dynamic finance department, overseeing our accounting operations and tax workstreams for our five companies. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience and a desire to led and develop a growing team
In this role, you will leverage your solid understanding of U.S. GAAP to ensure our company's finances are in order. You will manage and mentor a team of four accountants and support staff, driving efficiency and accuracy across the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข Manage the accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll activities, including the monthly close processes.
โ€ข Manage and mentor a team of accountants and support staff, while providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
โ€ข Collaborate closely with the finance team to align budgets, streamline financial processes, and support strategic growth initiatives.
โ€ข Will support tax and audit workstream.
โ€ข Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
โ€ข Oversee bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and other accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
โ€ข Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and propose solutions for improvement. Implement best practices across our businesses in the U.S. and Europe.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with US and partly European accounting principles (GAAP and IFRS) and local regulations. Stay updated on changes to statutory reporting and accounting standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA designation is desirable but not required.
โ€ข Minimum of 6 to 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
โ€ข In-depth knowledge of GAAP. A working knowledge of IFRS is also desirable but not required.
โ€ข Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors and discrepancies.
โ€ข Good people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
โ€ข Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks or others) and Microsoft Excel is a plus.
