Manufacturing & Distribution / Temporary Assignment Approx. 3mos Minimum


About the Opportunity – Interim Controller

This hands-on interim leadership opportunity for an experienced Controller to step into a hands-on manufacturing and distribution environment. The role will focus on stabilizing accounting operations, leading the close and reporting process, and providing immediate leadership to the accounting team during a transition period. Candidates applying must have experience with Microsoft Business Central ERP.

Key Responsibilities – Interim Controller

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness
  • Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and variance reports
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and rolling 12‑month financial projections
  • Provide FP&A support, including financial modeling and ad hoc analysis
  • Manage cash flow, banking activity, and line‑of‑credit reporting
  • Ensure strong internal controls and audit readiness
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff of 4, assigning work and reviewing performance
  • Build and enhance financial reports to support operational decision‑making
  • Partner cross‑functionally with operations and IT to improve systems and processes as needed/requested

Qualifications – Interim Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience
  • Prior interim or temporary Controller experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in mid sized manufacturing and/or distribution environments (up to 500M in annual revenue)
  • Hands‑on leadership experience managing accounting teams
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central (ERP) required
  • Experience with Avalara sales tax software preferred
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred but not required
  • Ability to be both a strategic and highly hands‑on leader
