Job description

The Engineering Scheduler performs advanced aspects of planning/scheduling, project controls and administrative scheduling functions with minimal supervision. The Engineering Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining the Level 3/4 Engineering Schedule on all projects.  The Level 2/3 and above schedule will be maintained by the Project Scheduler with which the Engineering Scheduler must work hand in hand.

The Engineering Scheduler is responsible for resource loading the schedule at the appropriate level and working with the Department Managers to ensure that resources are available to maintain the scheduled activities.

  • Responsible for developing the Level 3/4 Engineering Schedule on each project using template schedules, previous schedules, knowledge of engineering execution, and interfacing with the department managers

  • Maintain the Level 3/4 schedule in Primavera P6 in coordination with the Project Scheduler while also expediting Engineering Department Managers to meet or exceed deadlines to keep the Project on Schedule

  • Coordinate changes in the Schedule with the Project Scheduler and Department Managers

  • Working with Department Managers to maintain resource loading, manhour tracking, loadboard efforts and utilization efforts

  • Working directly with other B&W departments such as Proposal and Project Managers, various engineering disciplines, Estimating, Procurement, and Scheduling

  • Collect data and updates from various sources and provide progress update, data inputs, and produce schedule reports.

  • Perform scheduling studies and what-if scenarios.

  • Responsible for resource loading and person-hour tracking.

  • Perform various types of analysis including earned value analysis and productivity analysis.

  • All duties assigned

  • Position requires a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in any Engineering Discipline

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as Planner Scheduler or Engineering Lead in directing schedule activities

  • Have a background in the power, process, or chemical industry

  • Knowledge of engineering execution

  • Proficient at Primavera P6 as well as the Microsoft Suite

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to translate engineering execution activities into a detailed schedule

  • Knowledge of the power, process or chemical industry from an engineering perspective

  • Must be adaptable and able to work within a dynamic work environment.
