Job description

Client Manager, Tax and Accounting

The Client Manager, Tax and Accounting leads client relationships and oversees delivery of tax, accounting, and bookkeeping services for a portfolio of professional services businesses. You’ll manage a defined client portfolio, guide a team of Senior Accountants, and play a key role in a growing, niche-focused firm.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of professional services clients
  • Lead scheduled client meetings (in-person and virtual) to review financials, tax positions, and planning opportunities
  • Review and finalize entity and individual (1040) tax returns for business-owner clients
  • Oversee the preparation of annual financial and practice/firm management reports, including overhead and fee analyses
  • Advise on and oversee QuickBooks setup, cleanup, and maintenance (including QuickBooks Online)
  • Develop, mentor, and support Senior Accountants and Bookkeepers; provide guidance on complex client issues
  • Help resolve IRS and state tax notices on behalf of clients
  • Collaborate with partners on special tax and accounting projects
  • Support business development by participating in marketing, webinars, and networking events as needed
  • Ensure timely, professional, and proactive communication with clients throughout the year

What We’re Looking For

  • CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, or finance
  • 5–7 years of experience reviewing individual and entity tax returns, financial statements, and general accounting (HNW and closely held businesses preferred)
  • Strong corporate tax background with deep knowledge of S-corporations and basis issues
  • Proven leadership experience and a genuine interest in mentoring and developing others
  • Interest in serving a focused niche of professional services businesses and willingness to learn their unique tax and business issues
  • Proficiency with tax software (UltraTax experience a plus)
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, including QuickBooks Online
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high standards for quality
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and client-facing skills
  • A collaborative mindset and desire to grow with the firm
