Position Title:Systems Performance Analyst II

Department: Operations & Maintenance

Reports To: Team Lead, System Performance and Data Analytics

Location: Hybrid - Guelph, Ontario

Position Summary

Recurrent Energy Power Services (REPS) Operations and Maintenance operates utility-scale solar plants and battery energy storage systems on five continents. With close to 5 GW contracted and under operations, REPS has developed recognized expertise in the field of solar plants and battery system operations. Engineering know-how, analytic prowess, and technical on-site skills, ensure that our clients can count on the best service for their plants.

In line with our current growth, Recurrent Energy is looking for a system performance analyst (level II) to assist in the in-depth analysis of performance data from solar photovoltaic and battery storage plants. This position is at the crossroads of solar energy, engineering, and data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the performance of utility-scale solar plants and battery energy storage systems; identify trends, anomalies, and areas of improvement to optimize the plants overall performance.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and reports. Present the findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including tech team and clients.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of scripts to collect and archive data, calculate plant and inverter availability, and other KPIs.
  • Recommend and implement performance improvements and optimization strategies to enhance energy generation and system efficiency.

  • Develop automated diagnostic tools to analyze data and flag underperforming assets.
  • Develop and update performance models to simulate the expected energy output of solar systems based on design parameters, environmental conditions, and equipment specifications. Use these models to compare actual performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct the onboarding of new projects, from gathering plant information to full integration in our monitoring platform.
  • Lead and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as program managers, electrical engineers, and maintenance technicians. Provide technical support and guidance the operation phase to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Canadian Solar Solution Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and company policies
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in Engineering (electrical preferred) or equivalent
  • Familiarity with solar photovoltaic or other renewable energy systems
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel)
  • Strong computer skills and In-depth familiarity with Python/Pandas
  • Knowledge of SQL, Git, BI tools an asset
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to write clear, concise reports
  • Strong work ethic, positive team attitude and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
