The Payroll Agent is responsible for:

  • Managing payroll tasks for drivers and owner-operators (brokers);
  • Processing payments and maintaining payroll records;
  • Answering questions from drivers and owner-operators (brokers).
 

Responsibilities

  • Collect, verify, and enter all data required to prepare payroll (hours worked, bonuses, allowances, absences, etc.).
  • Manage payroll specifics related to drivers:
    • Calculating overtime, driving time, and waiting time.
    • Applying bonuses (mileage, meals, overnight stays, etc.).
    • Ensuring compliance with transportation regulations (working hours, rest periods).
  • Calculate wages, social contributions, and deductions in accordance with collective agreements and regulations.
  • Generate and verify pay statements before distribution.
  • Manage social declarations (CNESST, QPP, employment insurance, etc.).
  • Respond to employee questions regarding their compensation.
  • Stay up to date on labor law and payroll regulations.
  • Participate in month-end closing and internal payroll audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information handled.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll management.
  • Diploma or training in accounting and/or human resources.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and office tools (ex. Excel, M365, ERP).
  • Knowledge of Employeur D, Folks, and Evolia (or similar systems).
  • Strong understanding of labor law and collective agreements, especially in the transportation sector (an asset).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability in a changing environment.
  • Bilingual (EN/FR).
  • Expertise in regulations applicable to companies under federal jurisdiction.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in accounting, management, or human resources (DEC or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position, ideally with driver payroll or in the transportation sector.

Employment Conditions

  • Salary: To be discussed based on relevant experience.
  • Permanent position; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (flexible schedule to be discussed).
