McPherson College is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Business Office. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys accounting, payroll, customer service, and working as part of a collaborative team.
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you'll help support the day-to-day financial operations of the College while serving students, employees, and vendors with professionalism and care.

What You'll Do
Your primary responsibilities will include:
ยท Processing accounts payable and vendor invoices.
ยท Preparing payments and maintaining accurate financial records.
ยท Processing monthly student payroll and supporting student employment records.
ยท Assisting with journal entries, reconciliations, and annual audit preparation.
ยท Providing backup support for student accounts and other Business Office functions.
ยท Answering questions from students, employees, and vendors with professionalism and excellent customer service.
ยท Assisting with additional Business Office and administrative projects as needed.
You'll also have opportunities to cross-train in payroll, human resources, student accounts, and other areas of the Business Office.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in accuracy, and works well with others.
Successful candidates will have:
ยท Experience in accounts payable, payroll, bookkeeping, accounting support, or a similar business office environment.
ยท Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
ยท Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
ยท The ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
ยท Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with accounting or ERP software is helpful but not required.
ยท A willingness to learn new systems and support other members of the Business Office as needed.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered. We value practical experience, initiative, and a positive attitude as much as formal education.
Schedule
This is a full-time, 12-month position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during peak periods.
