Position Overview
The Retina Center of Texas is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Assistance Specialist to support our patients in accessing financial assistance programs for high-cost retinal medications and treatments. This role is critical in ensuring patients receive timely care by helping them navigate co-payment assistance programs and Patient Assistance Programs (PAP).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients in obtaining financial support through co-payment assistance programs and PAP enrollments.
- Educate and clearly explain available assistance programs to patients in a professional, compassionate, and easy-to-understand manner.
- Collect and verify required documentation and information needed for program eligibility and approval.
- Complete and submit enrollment applications accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow up on applications and communicate status updates to patients and providers.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all patient interactions and program submissions.
- Work closely with physicians, billing, and clinical teams to ensure seamless patient support.
- Stay updated on payer requirements, program changes, and eligibility guidelines.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in medical billing, patient assistance programs, or healthcare administration preferred.
- Knowledge of retina medications and specialty drug assistance programs (e.g., Eylea4U, Genentech Access, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Proficient in EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
